Low cost Fin

Was recently looking for a new supplier for Fin and stumbled across Pharmica UK online.

I managed to order a 6 month supply (168 tablets) for £86 (delivered almost the next day) and I even received a 20% discount on this price as it was my first purchase. No Separate Dr’s prescription was needed either, just their 2 minute set of questions on their website.

As I only take 0.5mg per day it has effectively cost £70 for a one year supply for Fin, pretty incredible. Service was also very good. Feels almost too good to be true but we’ll see....

Anyway, hope this helps anyone looking for Fin. Best regards, Bongo

Thanks for sharing the info on this pharmacy. It is a very good price.
If you ever go to Spain you can purchase it over the counter in pharmacies and it`s cheap.

Thanks for sharing. Bigmac do you have to give the reason why your purchasing it in Spain or do they just assume it's for prostate issues?......been to Spain fairly frequently over last few years and never knew that.

Hi Bongo, thank you for sharing this with us. I happen to be in the market for Finasteride and I'm wondering how you're getting on with this one so far.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt, ive only been using this new supply for a couple of weeks but I’ve not noticed any change from the previous Proscar tablets I was using. No shedding etc either. So far so good! Thanks, Bongo

Thanks for this, Bongo. Great, that sounds promising and I think the online clinic route might well be the best way forward. Have a great night and cheers, Matt

Online is so much easier Matt. I remember when I told my Dr I was considering my first HT back in 2016 he totally rubbished the idea and said I’d regret it for life. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made so the thought of having to get a Fin prescription from him was something I wanted to avoid. Although I’d kind of like him to see my hair just to prove him wrong.....Regards, Bongo

Haha! Crazy to think that your doctor was saying that to you as recently as 2016. That pretty much sums up the difficulty with hair transplants, but I'm happy for you that you've been so happy with yours. Outside of this forum, there don't seem to be many truly reliable sources of information (least not doctors!).

Much appreciated for the advice about going online. I'm sold! Best wishes, Matt

For my Finasteride I simply had an online appointment with my GP who privately prescribed the 5mg version without even seeing me in person. I paid £5.50 for 28 tablets from my local pharmacy which will last 4 months (£1.38 per month)...

Hi SHart19, thanks for your reply. Wow that's certainly making a saving. I suppose you cut the tablet up into four pieces? How are you getting on with that?

Hi Matt, the tablets are quite big so they're easy to cut with a pill cutter. Although, I was told by one clinic to take half a tablet (2.5mg) three times a week rather than a quarter per day which is interesting.

That is interesting, SHart19. So, is that what you are doing, 2.5mg three times a week?

Does anybody else choose to cut up Fin 5mg tablets? I'm quite new to this and I'm just wondering if that kind of monetary saving has any bearing on results.

Thanks,
Matt

I started with Proscar in 2005, then switched to Finasteride in 2007/2008, both 5mg pills. I cut them into fifths with a sharp knife. It`s a lot easier with a pill cutter. As far as I`m concerned the cut up pills have worked great for me. You only cut one pill as you use it, then after the 5 days, cut another.

This video I posted in 2009 shows me cutting up a Proscar pill.

Hi Bigmac, thanks very much for explaining that. So, if the only consideration here is correctly cutting the pill into 5ths, without there being any additional risks involved compared with 1mg Fin, that would appear to justify the monetary saving. Definite food for thought.

I was under the impression I'd spending £40 a month on Finasteride, but it seems there are effective alternatives that need not break the bank.

Thanks for the insight and the video,
Matt

Yes if you look around there are many outlets selling it. If you ever go to Spain, you can purchase it over the counter in most pharmacies.
It was originally said that 1mg dosage per day gives the best results but these days there are all sorts of opinions on what the effective dosage is.
My pills were not cut equally, so my dosage would vary from just above to just below 1mg per day. Using the 1mg ensures you get that exact dosage and some will see it as more convenient.

Thanks for this, Bigmac. Quisiera una caja de Finasteride, por favor, as one might say in Spain. That's great that you can get it so easily over there.

Based on what you've said, I suppose my last consideration is whether, over a long period of time, being slightly over or under 1mg on a daily basis (as a result of cutting up 5mg pills) will make much of a difference. This may well be foolish thinking, as I've just spent a good deal on a transplant with a reputable clinic. But if you're saying it works for you, then why pay more for Fin if the same results can be achieved at less expense?

In my experience, Finasteride has done what it suppose to do. A lot of doctors now give varying advice on what dosage is effective. I guess due to them seeing their patients consistently gives them a good basis for their opinions. The general consensus is that it stays in your system for X amount of time, therefor taking 5 x 1g pills per day or 1 x 5mg cut into into fifths you will get the same overall dosage and effect from it.

That would certainly make a lot of sense, Bigmac. In that case, I'd say I'm swayed by the prospect of 5mg Fin cut up into 5ths. Thanks for your help here.
