Man vs Robot FUE (2071 grafts): Carlos K. Wesley, M.D. (NYC & LA)

Media Mgr Dr. Carlos K. Wesley
This 45-year-old man underwent a follicular unit extraction (FUE) session with Dr. Carlos K. Wesley in which a total of 2071 grafts were placed

His hair follicles were incubated in autologous (his own) platelet rich plasma PRP throughout the duration of the procedure. This, combined with an ATP-containing storage solution has been shown to enhance survival of transplanted hairs[.

This patient had a prior FUE with the ARTAS Robot. This left his donor with a well-defined block that had been aggressively harvested and one aspect of his FUE revision with our group was to soften the appearance of his donor area. Dr. Wesley used a smaller caliber hand-held motorized punch to performed the donor harvest. This approach better enabled the capture of donor hair roots that are slightly curved beneath the skin surface. Upon completion of the harvest, the patient €™s donor area was treated with PRP and ACell in order to not only minimize scar tissue formation, but also encourage partial regeneration of donor hair follicles.

The patient returned 12 days after his procedure and images of the patient can be seen below.

4 awesome repairs with SMG
His donor does look better. I know this was caused by the robot but surely would it not still be human error for programming the robot to be so aggressive in one area?
Thanks for posting and glad you helped him;)

Thanks @bullitnut for your comment. It's true that aggressive programming contributed to this look. It's also true that more attention to detail in terms of softening the borders of his FUE harvest would have made it look much more natural!
