Nape Hair

Hopefully I'll have another H/T next year to sort out the embarrassing gap in my mid-scalp but expect to rely on a bit of nape hair/body hair which I have good amount of.

I was wondering what constitutes nape hair versus scalp hair as there isn't a definite divide between the two.

In my opinion nape hair is scalp hair and NOT body hair, the reason i personally think this is because when my first born started preschool some five years ago she managed to get headlice off the other pupils::;mb. We were then told by our GP that they were to be found on all scalp hair but mainly the hairline, behind the ears and nape of neck.

Might be wrong and could be totally way off the mark but thats just what i thought.

Hopefully they'll be some scalp hair available but I think nape hair could be ok although not considered the safest zone to harvest from.

In my opinion and others. Nape hair is scalp hair. Nape hair is usually outside the so called "safe zone" however it tends to "thin" on some people in the later years of adults... It is usually not especially susceptible to DHT problems however in older age in some individuals it will thin and fall out.

Nape hair can be used however. Especially when the finer hairs are used in a hairline. The patient must be warned that it may miniaturize at an older age.

One more thing worth noting... It is sometimes more difficult to extract because of the acute angulation in some patients.

Thanks for the suggestion but whenever I meet some consultant they always give their different different views.
It does not mean that I am saying that you are wrong but how can I trust if some specialist says that these are different and some says that these are same.
Please clarify in deep if possible.

My guess would be to trust a clinic that has a long history of experience and results.

I would say Nape hair is Scalp hair, i`m probably going to use hair from that area sometime in the future as mine seems very strong with no signs of thinning.

While out and about i`ve been looking at nape hair, one thing i noticed is that lots of guys who have strong nape hair have their hair growing down in a V shape as opposed to straight across.

Dont know if this maybe some kind of genetic programming which cause`s that hair not to effected by DHT.

Nape hairs are indeed possible to extract, albeit a bit more difficult as stated by BM.

I do want to warn that with age a lot of people seem to lose a lot of nape hair, I guess due to overall aging.

Nape hairs are very strange imo and vary greatly from person to person, i have seen Norwood 7's with just the horse shoe pattern left, who still have the odd long nape hair sticking out.....kinda looks weird tooc;;9.

On the other hand i've seen them dissapear with age too as Beverotti says.

Finally had a consultation with Patrick Mwamba on the 5th of this month in London. He was as friendly and knowledgeable as I remembered when I had my procedure with him in 2009.
He thouroughly checked out my scalp and concluded that 1350 judiciously placed grafts would greatly improve my situation.

He said 250 grafts in the forelock would make a real difference, In his experience density here is important to the overall look of the hair. Most of the rest would go in the mid-scalp where I have an embarrassing gap with a few old grafts.

The doctor said most the grafts would come from the back and sides. But he would have to see how much he could get from the back without revealing the scars from my previous ops at the notorious Nobel Clinic

I trust Dr Mwamba's ability to think on his feet during a procedure in harvesting and placement. He is able to restore natural looking hairlines even in repair cases such as mine.

I hope to have the op as soon as possible but need to raise the funds. It seems rediculous that a few thousand pounds stands between me and the restoration of my self-confidence.
