FUE hair transplantation - SMP
Today I would like to introduce a new type of fUE punch : the Super FUE punch.

Team Prohairclinic were invited by a FUE punch manufacturer in the USA to be part of a test bed producing an ultra sharp FUE punch.
Due to a new kind of production mechanism the new punch has a thinner wall and is much sharper than anything we have ever used before.

We received 0.7-0.9 mm punches for testing purposes earlier this year. The extractor team tried these new punches on a variety of skin types, hair types, hair thickness. Immediately it became clear that these newly produced punches are the sharpest we had ever used.

Please do note that Ultra sharp punches, or sharp punches in general are NOT always the best choice. It really depends on a lot of factors such as skin type, angle of the hairs €¦ that determines which type of punch is used.
As for skin healing we have not noticed any difference. This was to be expected since FUE healing is very fast in general.

We are just glad that this new punch is another nice additional tool that can be used in certain situations.
In the picture you can see a €˜standard €™ titanium coated FUE punch compared with the new super sharp punch.

How does the €œextractor team € control the depth with such a very sharp punch? Normally, how deep at all?

As I talked to Sabine she told me that this punch is very efficient when confronted with steep angle hair combined with 'slippery' skin. The standard punches tend to slide off instead of making a nice entry.

So it is not that this new punch is used all the time, it is part of an array of punches which we have.

That's a very nice picture of the punches. I don't see how the wall of the punch could get any thinner. As Bart says, it's great to have variety of punches that are available to use for variety of tissue, angle, etc.

That is super thin, will it fit into any punch holder or is there one designed for it.

Actually Galileo, thanks, that's what I am trying to find out on another thread, perhaps this is a better section to get the answer though.

Anyway it would be good to know the average depth the punch has to go? It's just that there doesn't seem much depth of 'fleshy' tissue to dig into, and I wondered if bone where ever struck?!

depth is around 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 mm usually when extracting and 0.5 mm deeper than extraction site when implanting, roughly ofcourse as patients all differ.
