New here with a rogaine question

Hey all! So about a month ago I had longer hair and got a chunk ripped clean out at work. My stylist suggested that I put rogaine on it. I immediately went to wall mart and got the extra strength foam and have been putting it all over my entire scalp twice a day and not just the bald spot. Now I'm hearing things like I'm going to get a massive shed if I continue using it or stop it even though I have a full head of hair. My hair is naturally thin but it's been like this all my life. Is this shed real? If so will it leave my scalp exposed? Thanks in advance! Ps, I've attached a picture as you can see, no thinning just a damned bald spot!

I think you'd be better off going to a dermatologist first, as it's a traumatic injury and could have damaged your skin. Also you don't have to apply it all over the scalp, just the spot.

Rogaine may speed up growth on the bald spot however I would quit using it and see a Derm if it does not grow back.

So it won't make someone shed to the point that it looks like they are thinning?

Not everyone will shed. You only have this small area where you have lost your hair which is the nay area that needs treatment or leave as is and see if the hair grows back naturally.
If it don't grow back a small FUE session will fix it. In the meantime keep your hair long and apply DermMatch to the bald area, ths will help conceal it.

If you do put it all over your head, you'd be using way more than you're supposed to, and that would probably put you at risk for shedding more than anything.

Could you take a close up picture of the area. If the hair has been ripped out by the follicles it may never grow back and you could be left with scar tissue.
If this does happen you could have grafts transplanted via FUE to fill the area in. Hopefully though not too much damage was done and your hair re grows.

Do you feel any stubbles at all in the bald spot yet? It may take couple of months before growth occurs. I wouldn't apply the foam to all areas of your head, just the bald spot. I wouldn't worry if some of the foam spread to just a little beyond the bald spot but definitely not all over to areas where there's no hair loss.

If there's no regrowth within 2-3 months, then you'd probably have to transplant into it. It would be surprising if no hairs regrew.

Having worked around heavy machinery when I was very young and this is before ear plugs, rubber gloves, hair tied up, etc the number of work related accidents in manufacturing was very high. I even had 2 of my own fingers smashed as they got caught. Luckily the surgeon was good and all I €™m left with are some scars. There was a woman that got her long hair caught in a machine and it ripped out part of her scalp and it did not grow back but the scalp meaning the skin was torn away which I think is what it would take for it not to grow back.

My guess is that if you scalp is still intact the hair will grow back in time at least hopefully it will.

No regrowth yet. I'll take pics when I get home. The area is smooth. Also no scalp was ripped off. And there was blood for maybe the 10 seconds it took me to wipe the area down

Sounds like not too much trauma caused to the area so hopefully the follicles are just waiting to grow back.

Welcome to the forum dude...hopefully things will grow back for you soon....for the sake of a few pounds/dollars I would try taking some msm too from a health store it really speeds up my hair growth.
