Nizoral shampoo - Genuine or overhyped?

Hi all,

Looking to hear about people’s experience using Nizoral shampoo.

is it genuine or overhyped? Has anyone experienced good results using it?

I have have been taking 5mg finasteride a week ( 1/4 proscar x4 times a week) for roughly 6 years now. Has completed halted my hair loss. I have also had 2 hair transplants.

I have just recently started using Nizoral shampoo 3 times a week.

What I want to know is, has anyone experienced a further improvement in their hair by adding Nizoral on top of finasteride?

It will do very little to nothing I’m afraid. It’s main benefit is helping with scalp inflammation/dandruff which is caused by minoxidil usage. I would cut down the usage to twice a week as it can be harsh on the scalp. If you have dandruff/dry scalp, I find Pura D Or Gold shampoo to be excellent.
I would just stay with the Proscar for your hair loss prevention regimen.

Nizoral is a Ketoconazole shampoo that is used as an anti-fungal or dandruff treatment. It could help with preventing hair loss when treating a fungal infection. The 2% Ketoconazole will do nothing for MPB thinning.

Tried Nizoral as a standalone treatment before I started Finasteride. I was certain at the time it had a thickening effect on my hair in regards to thickening of each hair.
I seem to recall some trials where they compared the results of Nizoral to Monoxidil 2%. But reliability of those trials is questionable.
I left the Nizoral on my head for 5mins prior to washing out.
My hair at the time was minitaurising and
I believe Nizoral may help reduce minitaurisation based on my experience.
I only take Finasteride, but if i was 25 years old I would also take Rogaine and Nizoral.
