Not taken fina before HT!!!

Hey guys

I'm a diffused thinner probs norwood 6. I do get away with hair fibres! Does it good job.

Anyway I'm due a HT I a couple of weeks (not booked it yet) . But I won't get the time again for another couple of years if I don't do it now at the age 44.

I haven't started finasteride. Would it be a bad idea to go ahead with it ? I'm worried about shock loss may destroy my native hair especially top back. I rely on them for hair fibres. .

I have my sisters wedding to attend in 6 months from HT. Will this be a bad idea?

Shall I postpone the HT for a year or so as I haven't started the finasterid or take the plunge?

I can start fina about 10 days pre HT.

What do you reckon ?

In my experience starting Finasteride before your HT is the best course of action. If you are not having any adverse reactions to it I would continue with the surgery. Shock loss can happen with or without the use of Finasteride. Just be prepared for the ugly duckling phase which is the months following your surgery. I would double check with your clinic regarding starting it so close to the date. Some clinics are ok with it, some are not. So, it is best to follow their pre and post op instructions.

I've decided to move my surgery in 8 months time. What doses should I take ? And Amy other meds?

I’m on Finasteride only. Been on it since 2005 with no issues and it still maintains my hair.
The recommended dose is 1mg, that’s what I take.

You can try the oral minoxidil or Dutasteride if you think a stronger approach is needed. Was the hair transplant for the whole of the scalp?
