Hey guys just a quick question to those who have had a HT or anyone who knows.

A few months after all my HT's i have had a short period of having an oily scalp mainly around the forehead this has happened everytime so far that ive had a procedure. It hasn't caused me any issues or problems or anything and it cleared up quickly everytime but i am just curious as to whether anyone else has noticed this after a HT? or whether it's simply a coincidence.

Hi Bullitnut
For me, just the opposite - a feeling of dryness all over the scalp and forehead.

Totally opposite so I don't think it is related to the ht, my forehead is very dry currently mind you it has been that way for a while now. Before I had my ht in 2006 and before taking proscar my scalp was always very oily and I hated it because of the shine it would produce it's quite the opposite now.

Hey BN, the exact same thing happened to me after my procedure at SMG. I even emailed Janna about it. My forehead and scalp were so oily, I had to wash them several times a day. It lasted for about two months then returned to normal. One person suggested that the body was producing excess oil to heal itself.

Dear Bullinut,

There is the possibility that at the recipient area the patient will notice a condition of oily skin that he did not had prior to the hair restoration procedure.

On the bald skin due to the lack of hairs and as time passes the local sebaceous glands become less active thus the skin gets less oily.

Every hair follicle has its own sebaceous gland attached and this means that new active sebaceous glands which are included in the transplated follicle grafts are transferred at the recipient skin.

The difference concerning skin oily condition is easily detected by the patient after the hair restoration.

My hair and scalp seems to go dry after a Ht, guess we all react differently.
