Options for a 21 Year Old with Diffuse Thinning

Ok guys here is what I don't want to do right now.

1... have my head tattooed.

2... wear a wig.

3... become dependant on concealers.

4... take Propecia although I`m researching more for this option.

What I really want is hair. I`m attaching some pictures when I was 19, I`d be happy to achieve a result somewhere along these lines. I don`t wish to post current pictures as I have a very distinct birthmark on my crown and someone may recognise me.

When I look at my hair it is progressing to a typical Norwood 5 pattern.

Remember these pictures are 2 years old.

How about Rogaine.......have you considered that option?

I'm using Minoxidil which has slowed my hair loss down.

May be worth adding 2% Nizoral to your regimen.

In respect to a HT. Most reputable Surgeons would not touch you due to your age and that you are not on Finasteride.

However if you decide that a HT is something you want when you get into your mid 20s. I would plan your HTs with consideration given to the fact you may become a NW6 or 7.
I don't mean to be negative. But I would research some results where patients in the NW6-7 zones have had work done and whether you would be happy with those results.

This of course depends upon how many grafts you have available in your donor region. You may have 4000 available or it may be as high as 7500 grafts. May be worth getting a consultation with a reputable Surgeon to evaluate your donor.

I'm no expert and I'm still 6mths away from my first transplant. I have done plenty of research and my view is solely only my opinion. Good luck.

Do not rush into anything, try to have some face to face consultations to have your hair assessed by a doctor. They can check your donor capacity and look for signs of miniaturization and advising you on what they think is your best approach if any.
You do not want to have something done that you may later regret if you continue to lose more hair.

Hi Tony, most clinics will tell you to wait especially as you are still losing hair. They won't want to transplant hair only for you to lose more, run out of donor and look worse. I can understand how you feel though, being young and not wanting to look bald, try keeping your hair short as you do now, maybe try Propecia/Finasteride but research the possible sides first, you may regrow some of your lost hair.
By all means have some consults, see what advice is given, then take your time before deciding what you want to do.
All the best,
Bm.

4 awesome repairs with SMG
It sucks loosing your hair at a young age dude...but trust me it sucks even more if you end up with a bad ht performed by an unethical surgeon who is willing to do surgery on someone young like yourself who may progress to a high norwood. If in your shoes i would research like hell for the next few years and get some face to face consults....i get the reluctance to try Propecia/Fin due to side, but the sides don't affect everyone so it still could be an option, and it would help you down the line if you decided to undergo a HT in the future.

I gave you some great advice about what to do on your original thread.

Up to you if you choose to ignore it. ;)

Personally I would never consider Finasteride. Even as a repair patient if someone told I could grow all my hair back right now I wouldn €™t take it. The risk of feminizing the body is too high and taking a medication for 40 years doesn €™t sound too appealing. Sometimes problems can manifest from medication after 20-30 years of use.

Tony you are going to receive all kinds of opinions so consider them all and in the end do what is best for you, most especially long term. Everyone has different goals.

I'm still undecided on Propecia, trying to decide if the risk is worth it. My plan is to have the grafts spread out thinly like Fred the Belgian had providing the illusion of a full head of hair but I do understand the reluctance of doctors to operate.Gambler I watched those videos, more information and studies are required before I'd consider it. Are you going to illustrate your success? Thanks everyone helping out.
