I'm going to be flying to Canada for my ht, but I'm going to have to renew my drivers liscensce prior and I'm worried I'm not going to get my new permanent picture ID prior to when I fly out. So, what's accepted as a substitute? I'll have my passport but can I use a government issued picture ID as a substitute for my drivers liscense as I'm assuming both are required by customs; which I believe I can get through the DMV?

NG,

All you need is your passport for the airlines and for the Customs.

really, no drivers liscense or additional id?
well that solves that then. I'll just bring my bald head, my donor, and a pen to get Dr. H to autograph a scalpel for me. :)

BM,

not sure yet. I was considering staying 5-7 nights to avoid traveling right after wards, and lock myself in a hotel room w/a chastity belt locked upon my head covering my precious...seems no one does this though. what do you guys think?

I know Tim uk locked himself in his hotel room for two weeks after surgery.

I travelled back home the day after surgery.

I travelled the next day but I didn't shave down and had a decent amount of native hair. Because you'll be shaving down things ofcourse will be different so I can understand wanting to lock yourself away for awhile. I would think that 5 days is fine but you'll obviously still look like shit because of the donor area. I guess all I can say is that it is the price to pay for a new look.

Mate, I think I was one of the most extreme cases I know of...

As Bigmac says.... I locked myself in my hotel room for nearly 2 weeks after the op... I ventured out on the 3rd day with a light bandage under a baseball cap....I even checked how windy it was before leaving my hotel as I was paranoid about my cap blowing off....

I ended up going out of the hotel just a couple of times a day... around lunchtime to buy a coffee from and sit in a park... and in the evening for a takeaway... then scurried off to my hotel... I think I would have gone stir crazy of it were not for my couple of day time escapes..

But the great thing was how nice the hotel was... and also to be honest I had been so busy with work over the last 5 years it was nice just to "slob" it out for a couple of weeks....

I had decided that I wanted to hide away... and a couple of weeks in a hotel thousands of mile away and on a different continent seemed ideal !!

The other reason was that I was so paranoid about the HT that I did not want to go and get my staples removed anywhere apart from Feller's....

I will say now that I think my "lock down" period and my "staple removal" issues where a complete waste of time... I should have either travelled home after a few days (post swelling, which I did not really have an issue with) or gone out and seen America, which was my original plan...

In hind sight the two weeks were nothing considering I was not comfortable with anyone seeing my head for over 6 months...

I must admit that I thought the down time was going to be around the 12 week mark.. and had my fingers crossed for 10... turned out to be about double that... maybe me being over paranoid... this is the main reason that I would never be shaved down again if I wanted any more work carried out on my head !!, sorry... going off subject I think ?

Apart from the inside of the following - JFK, Fellers Surgery, The Andrew Hotel, a few cabs and a couple of shopping Malls... that was my total experience of the USA in two weeks.. a bit of a waste... and still regret not venturing out more....

Going to stop here as going on a bit and I have locked myself in the office to try and get some urgent paper work done.... ;ss;

Tim
