Pictures of hair transplant patients who didn't take meds

Background: 47M, had transplant (think 3k grafts) 2018 for receding hairline. Some loss at the crown at that point, but not noticeable. Doc recommended finasteride to stop ongoing loss. Father does not have much hairloss so I thought I might be able to get away without taking meds. Worth a try as could always go back for second transplant if not. Fast forward to 2022 - now quite a lot of loss at the crown. Definitely noticeable. Still wasn't sure about the finasteride. Started taking it to see what sides I got. Have now been on it 6 weeks at 0.5 mg / day. Junior does not like it. Can still perform but not like before. Unsure whether to go ahead and have transplant as will probably not continue with the finasteride, so benefit may not last long and hair may actually look worse a couple of years post-transplant than if I had done nothing.

Question: does anyone have any photos showing what it looks like if someone has a transplant on the crown but their hairloss then continues around the transplanted area?

Thanks

Hello Cjames. Having a HT without meds is an option but as you know, hair loss is unpredictable. Any gains made with surgery could be outweighed if native hair continues to be lost. If your sides persist, maybe take the finasteride every other day to see how it goes. There’s also the option of topical finasteride that many say has a lesser risk of sides.
This is not a crown HT but a very educational thread on having a transplant, stopping the meds and then losing more hair.

Do you have any pictures to show your loss?
