I think my camera is going because the pictures look washed out. Actually, a friend gave me his old camera so maybe it is just an old camera. I will try buying some new batteries to see if that makes a difference.

Maybe ask a close friend/family member if they have a camera you could borrow or even have them take some pictures if they know about your situation.

So, I understand it'll be a difficult task to choose one deserving patient when you can make a compelling case for each candidate - especially the repair works. I'm not sure how the voting will take place and it'll be interesting to see how it's resolved. I would think BHR clinic should have some input into each candidate on what they think they would be able to do for the repair patients since there are different philosophies from each doctor on how to go about repairing. The young patients or routine type of cases are easier for everyone to figure out but what can be achieved for each repair patient might help in the decision making process. What do you think, PhilB?

i hope im chosen but if not i would hope to see one of the other repair patients picked, mainly because hairloss sucks especially if one is younger bur it doesnt compare to having to live your life in such a restricted fashion, for instance i really cant go out on windy days cause im so paranoid of my hat blowing off, its one of many ways life is resricted, at one point i actually glued hair in the back hole of my hat to cover my scar, also repair guys have spent alot of money so a break would be appreciated, i just bought a new camera, still figuring how to use it properly so detailed after photos should be no problem,also when will a choice be made, i would gladly donate one of my days to one of the other repair guys if that were possible

Also a special mention for all those that have posted their cases in response to the Pro Bono, sympathies to all for the stories and angst you have gone through. Fortunately we do not have to decide pe se because I can see it being a tightly run thing. That said it has come to the point where we need to have an idea from all those that have put their case for selection to give us details of their situation, how they came to be in the situation they are in. Number of previous procedures, graft counts, techniques, donor situation, recipient situation and general goals and intentions.

This is not used as deciding factors but to ensure a procedure is going to be able to meet within the remot of what is possible and expectations. One aspect of this offer is to improve and make a substantial benefit to someone's life. We want to ensure as much as possible that a tangible difference is made under the circumstances of the repair and what is feasibly possible.

hey guys
just come across this website and it really seems like a place that can help me out, im introducing myself alongside submitting myself for this offer even though i think i have the least chance, anyways here goes

unfortunately i started experiancing hair loss at the most earliest age 16, i was in school at the time and had someone say to me my hair was falling out, i took no notice of it and carried on with my simple happy school life.

once i reached college and turned 17 things got really bad my hair loss finally kicked in major style causing me to have to cut my hair so it would be less noticable.

loads of people told me shaving it would help so over a number of months i did this and wore a hat inside and out of the house. these days were awful it would be hot inside my college and the hat would cause irritation and be very annoying and ontop of that looking around me all i could see was young guys with amaizing hairstyle.

i carried on my life avoiding people and minimising having friends due to loss of confidence and being depressed.
i had a bold/skinhead hair cut and always wore a hat due to feeling that i looked like an alien and many other things.
this year was very bad for me, i was so depressed i failed college and had no social life, nothing seemed to be going right.

as my parents wanted me to get an education i carried on, i knew i had to do something about my hair before i rejoined my new college so started gathering the money i had saved for my car and by selling other of my personal items.
i happened to come across advance hair studio, it was the only place i checked about hair loss and phoned up and got booked in at leeds. i was very naive and handed over a deposit of £1750 for a procedure called strand by strand.
i thought i was getting my hair back in a similar way to a transplant, were each hair would be replaced how it orginally was - companys word.
on a later date i went back and i had pieces of hair from the back of my head taken and my head measured up, with the guy showing me were my new hair line would be. i was still very excited thinking i was going to finally get my hair back, i was told i would have to wait till two months till my new hair would come back. at this point i thought my hair was going to be replicated and would be re-inserted into my scalp.

during this two month wait i started looking into the procedure a little more and somehow managed to find out that all i had payed for was a wig. at this point i did not know what to do my heart was in my mouth that i was paying thousands for a wig. i rang up and said i didnt want the procedure but was told all i would receive back was a few hundred pounds. so stupidly i carried on and when the day finally came for me to for my procedure.

this day was horrible i had just payed a huge amount of money for something i did not want and never would have. i was 18 at the time, which 18yr old wants to wear a wig???

well i was stuck so went along with it, had this piece placed and glued onto my head. i was even more miserable then before, i had no money and had a stupid wig on my head
as a week went by i had really bad irration on my scalp but was just told to use a brush as it was jus an itch, my scalp felt like it was burning and was really uncomfortable

so i booked myself in and went back, it was painful enough having the thing removed but seing the effects it had caused to my head was even worse. all of my scalp was full of spots and red all around, even the people working there were shocked. i was told it was the bonding solution and that another one was available but i did not want this thing back on my head as i was traumatised by it. so once again i had to have hy hair taken off and i was back to stage onE, expect this time i was broke.

after a month worth of recovery i phoned the company and they offered me a laser option which i am currently doing.
this has nearly come to the end but has not worked either.

i have missed a lot of info out but am trying to keep it breif all i can say is im 18 and some days i wake up not wanting to show my face, i cant enjoy anything in life and cant have a relationship due to lack of confidence and embaressment (i used to be told i was attractive before)

loosing my hair has effected by life very badly and going through treatments which have failed have made things worse.
i blame not having hair for a lot of misfortune in my life e.g not having a job,relationshop, financial issue and being constantly depressed and upset

i have sympathy for all of those who have had bad hair transplants but beleive me to experiance this at this age is something that breakes you down more then anything

UK_18: its not to good to be in this situation.. i know.
Have you tryed treatments like propecia,rogainfoam and nizoral.
They are called the big 3 in many hairloss forums and work greate, these can be bought online and allsow cheap generic versions that work just as well if you have litle cash. Many people that gets a HT are on these drugs to keep the other hairs on their head.. and some regain so much hair that they dont take a HT plunge.
I just wanted to inform you in case you where not aware of this. Because i dont think you will find many HT dr's out there... with a respectable name that will do a HT transplant on a 18 year old with MPB... im sorry but that is a fact.
If you have not tryed these 3 big fighting drugs i would sugest you do and give the treatment 12 months for max results.
And when it comes to those strand by strand clinics and laser clinics that charge many thousands for a few laser threatments and give you some minox sometimes.. they are big scams after youre money and rarely have any truthfull results with their treatments.. have read story after story of people spending many thousands on these clinics with 0 result on laser treatments.

Great idea by BHR, does anyone know when the clinic will reach their decision? It is very gracious of them to offer this, because, in the end, this is a very labor intensive procedure but the overhead is fairly low, the greatest cost being time/labor.

I think its great that this is happening, and I hope BHR chooses two patients in need of repair

i agree with you wylie, why not help 2 people and i would just like to add if im picked i would obviously pick up any costs for anesthesia etc incurred during the procedure, not to mention lunch, GO BHR!!!!
