Hi Bullitnut,

I'll give some insight into this case. The patient is an entertainer and after a number of FUE surgeries that did not work out he has a donor zone that is noticeably depleted. So much that the density is insufficient to cover the scarring and some areas have resulted in patches of permanent shock as well as density depletion.


The recipient zone is not unnatural because most of the work did not grow so his hope is a modest return to normalcy even as a balding man. Dr. Karadeniz is going to work to repair the donor zone by allocating scalp hair from various areas as well as beard hair to fill in the areas of density depletion and shock. The goal is to allow this man to have a donor area that looks as normal as possible.

It is indeed an interesting case.

Thank you so much Joe. Sounds like a difficult case poor guy. There's an important lesson to be learnt here too for newbies i think.
When you are seeking a HT to improve your appearance and confidence but choose the wrong clinic, it can often lead to the poor patients whole perspective regarding hair loss changing as a result of having sub par work. They can go from wanting a nice head of hair in the beginning... to just wanting to look normal and acceptable again without caring about their hair loss. This poor guy must have wanted to address his hair loss in the first place but due to bad work now just wants to look normal.....or at least what society classes as normal for a balding guy.

I don't think so. Keep in mind, both clinics I worked at were top tier clinics so they are likely sought out for repair more often than lesser known clinics. I'm certain that some clinics have a much smaller percentage of patients being repair patients, perhaps less than 5%, so I highly doubt that repair work takes up 20% of the patients industry wide.
My gut tells me that the number of repair cases, or the percentage of such, will actually increase. Why? Because the number of clinics opening has increased and with the growth of FUE and the ease at which almost anyone can get involved with opening a clinic, and the explosion of clinics in Turkey and other regions normally not considered for hair restoration, it only makes sense that we'll see more repair work being performed in the future. The difference will be like that seen in the first Project Repair patient, where the donor was decimated and in need of repair. Strip scar repairs will become less common because of the fact that strip is being done less and less than even three years ago.
