Hi,
I am 29 and have been on the path of losing my hair slowly for a few years now. I used to have really thick hair and was always told how nice it looked. These days it is starting to thin out on top which i ignored at first as i thought i was imagining it, but it is definitly a lot thinner now. I started using some herbal shampoo and taking vitamins that i was told could help, but nothing is helping. I have heard there is something called propecia which could help-i just wanted some thoughts really on if it has worked for anyone? I am too young to be losing my hair like this!

Propecia is a drug that can help, it also has the possibility to give you side effects, these are discussed in the medication section on this forum.

Here are some topics you may find interesting......

Hi Nj.

If I were you I would try and get some consultations with a HT doctor, ask them about Propecia/ Proscar and see if its something you wish to try.

Imo it's your best option to help prevent more hairloss and maybe regrow some lost hair.

Cheers Bm.

Propecia is the way to go, watch for sides, if no symptoms stick with it.

I was on it for a year and my hair loss did stabilise I think. Having said that my hair loss is minimal (if at all) on the crown so not sure the drug made a big difference or not. However, I did suffer some mild side effects as my libido definitely suffered. Everything worked fine but the drive was almost non existent. You don't really notice the side effect until you sit back and think about it. I think is some ways people who use it are in denial of any side effects as they want to keep their hair and the thought of coming off the drug is too risky. Well in my view, the risk is certainly not worth the possibility of keeping some extra hairs. I'm off it now for about a month and my libido is improving but still a way to go, so here is hoping!

Anyway that's my story but do your own research and make your own call.
