I`d say between 1500 and 2000, that amount should create a nice look.

Thanks Bigmac I agree........... i think 3000 grafts may be overkill though this number was quoted by one top Doc.....not throwing out the idea though....

ALSO...

1)..Looking at my top donor scar in the first set of posted pictures (From 2003) that scar is very wide ...

Several other top Doc's over the years felt/feels the same way ........both before and even after a revision...

No one wanted to go any ware near it ..........Dr H felt it was an average size scar and also felt this was the one he wants to use. He also said I could/should expect the same size/ .........

The trouble is I want to try and shrink that scar or camouflage it in some way...........Again I and many others think is very wide as is.......

He also Feels i have very good donor reserves ( I agree) and stated he could easily get 5000 grafts from that top scar the way he does his strips....

But would need to go way into my sides.......This I'm extremely afraid of ......IE ....extending the scar especially if he feels its an average size scar.........

2) Most other Doc's feel a lower number of grafts over 2 sessions is better because of the existing front 1/3 plug scars/tissue..........Thy feel the skin in some areas have a restricted blood supply due to damaged tissue......

Logically it makes sense...... and opting for the best possible outcome i would agree.....several also stated they'd like to remove some of the pitted plugy grafts first.....

If only 1 or 2 of the top 5 stated to do it over 2 sessions I would be weary they were just trying to milk the number of sessions but it was 4 of the 5

3) After reading a few recent and past online posts about stretched or wide scars especially on the sides it really makes me uneasy.........I know its all about personal healing characteristics.....

All in all out of all the perfect and virtually undetectable scars we so often read about online I realy wonder what the reality is behind the true numbers of patients that actually heal this way

What % actualy gets this result out of say 100 people....IE .... an almost perfect and virtually undetectable scar .... on a virgin scalp ........ on a secondary strip and so on

These 3 questions are very real concerns of mine and would love to get honest opinions .......

Also this is not a knock on anyone ......Im just trying to better understand what my best options are.......

This is also why I was thinking of FUE again ......

Hi PVT.

I still think your top scar is wide, i personally would not want a scar that wide and would not risk it extending round the sides to my temple points.

My approach would be take the strip out from a lower scar or virgin donor area for the 1500/2000, more so the 2000.Then use maybe 200/300 grafts into the top strip scar to see how it all looks or put the full 2000 into the frontal area and at a later date fue the scar.

I`ve added a pic of your scar on here which i copied from Hairlosshelp(link on first post) so its easier for people to see what we`re talking about.

Now you can get an idea of why its so hard to pull the trigger again.........Just soooo many conflicting top doc points of view.....

2 600-700 graft Fue sessions spread out over 1 year and 1 small scar revision with tri-closure on the top scar may also be an option .........

if i could get 500-800 grafts out of it i may be able to get the needed 2000 grafts in total....

I think my donor could handle 1500 FUE grafts ...........but it needs to be done by someone who cares enough to spread them out to not thin the scared area...most Doc's just want the cash and the quick session so they could move over to the next room.........
