repair patients and posting

I think it becomes very hard for repair patients sometimes to post without coming off as being negative. From my own experience every repair patient I have spoken to I can tell you is a good person. Sometimes in our quest to help others we do indeed come off as being negative, it €™s not intentional it just becomes such an emotional issue for us and we don €™t want to see others lured in by those that we feel are being less than honest.

I think if you understood that many of us have endured years sometimes 20-30 dealing with this issue all because we made one simple mistake and trusted the wrong person than maybe it would be easier to understand. We are here because we want to help others avoid what we have had to endure. Our motives are much different than those that make a living in this industry. We also understand that there are worse things that can happen in one €™s life but when it is something that was so unnecessary as what repair patients have had to experience it becomes hard to understand.

I am grateful for the progress I have made in my own repair and am happy with what has been achieved. I would help anyone here in any way and if you knew me personally you would know that to be true. In the future I will try to be a bit more positive in my message but if I €™m not hopefully you will understand.


In 1980 a 13 year old girl Cari Lightner was needless killed by a drunk driver. Her mother Candace Lightner did not just sit back and accept it she formed MADD mothers against drunk drivers and worked on changing the laws and the liquor industry. The industry fought her tooth and nail claimed her message was negative as they were happy with the status quo. 32 years later the industry has embraced the message and has changed but it was not from within it was only with enough outside force that change could be made. Thankfully she didn €™t give up and maybe it was your mother, father, brother or sister whose life was spared. It €™s sad that this is the way things sometimes have to be but sometimes out of the negative something very positive can come.

The problem I see is the whole industry is unregulated, doctors can pretty much do and say what they like. The unfortunate genuine repair patient is at a loss as they will have signed a waiver. Some visit to vent their anger.. understandable although some members will judge them as vindictive, therefor the wrong message is portrayed. I personally prefer to read a story when it does not bash anyone, just explains what happened.

Hewey I agree and it is so rare that I have ever brought up the names of those that have damaged me in the past. There would seem to be no point and each is still in business. What bothers me is to watch all this dishonesty that goes on in the business and nobody says much. You do see these young guys like lambs being led off to slaughter as they are completely clueless. A very good example is this robotic fue system. It is not superior and potentially does a tremendous amount of damage to the donor area. Is anybody in the industry telling others this or do they remain silent or try to justify its use. It is complete and total bullshit and it €™s called they got to pay their bills or buy some more useless shit that they don €™t need and the money has got to come from somewhere. Job protection is basically what we are looking at here.

It would appear there is less and less repair patients posting these days, maybe this can be attributed to doctors having to raise their level due to exposure on hairloss forums.

Valid point chin up, I feel a lot just don't bother though due to the fear of constant ear bashing on the forums by specific doctors cheer leaders.

I receive an e-mail every so often from patients and a recent one got my attention as others before. With complete sincerity when I see the words suicide mentioned in relation to a recent procedure it does have an effect on me. I try not to post during those times as the rage inside of me starts to build when learning the details but that restraint is very short lived.

Sometimes even then the message never gets through as one recent posting of mine has been deleted from the HS forum. Tried contacting the administrator but no response, I guess he really doesn €™t care. When information is suppressed there are consequences to be paid and all too often it is only the patient and the patient alone that pays those consequences. No one will be there to help you and that is a very lonely feeling.
