Say 10 years after FUE - thin halo?

I'm mid 50s and thinking of having FUE - approx 3500 on my top and crown. I'm concerned about what might happen in say 10 to 15yrs time. Will I always need to go back for top ups? I'm concerned about the possibility of a mini halo effect when I get to be about 70ish.

Only 3500 grafts for the top and crown may not be enough.
Post some pictures of your head.
Always ask (or understand) how many grafts you have lost before planning to estimate the grafts to be put in.
Long ago, even top doctors could place only 4000-5000 grafts no matter how bald you are.

Now, we can place 8000-10,000 grafts for most patients.
Logically speaking you should look to REPLACE the maximum number of grafts that you have lost.
So, asking anyone "how many grafts are good enough" is pretty lame in the present time.

Check yourself out (your scalp and beard donor atleast) and if you have lots of grafts then plan for more.

I guess relocated hairs need to be put in and around the existing.

So if the sides are strong and the top gets reinforced, in time, if the sides receed (lower) a bit then aren't you left with a gap that you need to either live with or comb over or replenish with more donor hair?

HTs are rarely a one hit unless hairless in minor and not extensive.

Because of your higher Norwood level meds should be considered.

3500 strategically placed grafts could provide a thinner coverage. Have you a picture of your donor?

I've been told the donor area is strong.

When you say thinner coverage, you mean distributed amongst the original hair?

Isn't damaging the original hair likely or unavoidable, but still likely to be an improvement overall?

Placing grafts amongst the existing hair.

A highly skilled surgeon can easily place in between existing hair, the main issue is shock loss to the existing native hair.
