Straight after surgery ( in the period when you are waiting for the shed) is it deemed a good sign that the freshly implanted hairs grow prior to shedding ? Does this give any indication as to future results ?

No it doesn't.

Good topic. I'm in the waiting for something to happen stage right now.

The waiting for something to happen stage is awful but it's soon forgotten when the results come through.

Good topic, from what I have read and observed from peoples results the four to six month window is a key indicator of how successful someone's result will be. Despite what a lot of people (clinics in particular) say, fast growers seem to get better results than slow growers. Interesting, also, to note that fast growers tend to be younger, on meds, and have had smaller sessions.

Some of my hairline (could be transplants or from enhanced protocol) seemed to grow from day one... Around week 8 I could feel the "stubble".... Very curious to see how this progresses.. Will it start strong and slow down? God I hope not... Hopefully at the 3-4 month mark I get a really strong push in addition to what I have seen thus far..
My procedure was 3300 (so relatively large?) and also I am in my late 's (so I guess middle aged?)... I have tried to eat clean and stay fit so I think that has to play a role too...

Hi All,
I was drawn to this thread as I had FUE 6 months ago and have some growth, but it is a bit patchy and sparse.
I recently had a 6 month review with my surgeon and he was pleased with the progress. When I asked about expected growth rates, etc, he stated that with FUE he finds that new growth typically starts to emerge around 3-5 months and I should expect to continue to see new growth emerging up to 10 months typically, 12 months exceptionally. From that point on the hair will thicken over the next 3 months or so as it continues to grow.
I will endeavor to provide an update at the 10/12 month point.
It would be great if those slow growers who posted in this thread provide an update on their progress.

Hey Baldiing Coconut, crazy handle. At 6 months some have great growth, others are slow until they catch up around month 10. Some pictures would be useful to evaluate your growth to date. I need to update my thread as now at 12 months post op, you can take a look.

I’m currently coming up to month 7, and I am worried about my final results. I am seeing a lot of conflicting information regarding ‘slow growers’ and what the final results will be.

I’ve seen a mix of opinion on this thread (and others) including those who are slow growers tending to not achieve the best results compared to fast growers, stated by representatives from clinics on this forum. I’ve also read slow growers will catch up and to be patient.

I have discussed my concerns with my clinic, and it was advised to not compare with other patients results, and that most patients do not experience much growth until month 9. I think it’s hard not to compare.

I was hoping some clarity could be offered on this as it’s difficult to know what to expect if you’re reading from other clinics that you’ll not achieve best results with slow growth, but advised by your own clinic that the majority of patients do not see much growth until month 9.

Many thanks

@Kelvino1987 Growth timelines do vary greatly. When you see others who have great growth earlier than your own you wonder what’s happening with yours.
The facts are everyone is different. The growth usually catches up at some point. However, there is a small percentage that for unknown reasons don’t achieve the maximum yield and therefore are left disappointed.
All you can do is wait it out until 12 months and take it from there. If you don’t achieve the result expected by you and the clinic then another surgery may be required.
Depending on what growth you get, you may need to explore further why optimal growth was not achieved.

Thanks BM, I understand. I think it could help BM and would be useful if some clinics on this forum were to share examples of “slow growers” (those with not very much growth before 6/7 months) who’ve achieved decent results? Do you think this could help and put some minds at ease?

Yeah I 2nd that I’d love to see some clinics post some slow growers results. Especially if they had hardly any growth up till about 7 months and then by 12 months it was a different ball game

Just found this on YouTube. A guy came back to the clinic obviously worried about his result at month 8, it was very thin and see through, but his final result at 18 months looks really good and completely different.

That’s a very good example from Dr Feller and Dr Bloxham.
Yep that has definitely highlighted that you have to give the HT time before you can judge. I defo think more examples like this would help slow grower with their confidence while waiting for the final result

How did this turn out balding coconut?
Hey Bigmac,
It did fill out a little bit more, but the results were very poor. However, the surgeon carried out a free top up which did improve things.

It would be good if you could post some pictures after both surgeries as it will help others in a similar situation.
I`m pleased the top up improved things for you.
Thanks for popping back and replying.
