Staple removal after my Hairtransplant

I would be most grateful if someone could advise on how long staples need to be in your scalp before having them removed... I am 5 days out of of surgery, can't sleep that good, my scalp feels very tight, itching like crazy, I just want them out.
What's the earliest they can safely be removed without any risk to the donor closure?

Hi there,
It's usually between 7 an 10 days to have them removed, your doctor should have told you how long.its normal for your scalp to feel tight and itch, try not to scratch, if you're in pain at all contact your doctor. Here is a link showing staple removal,

Yeah Sparky is right don't remove them early....although it is annoying for you sleep wise please try and think of the long term benefits of a nice neat well healed scar.....the thread bigmac posted to is very helpful.

Try a travel pillow it helped me sleep

The staples are uncomfortable to sleep in and you will be pleased to take them out BUT please do not take them out until the timescale that your doctor recommends. You should have some post op instructions from you Doctor stating when you can take them out if you take them out early and your scar stretches you will only have yourself to blame.

If you build up a number of pillows so you are resting a bit more on your back rather than putting the weight on your head you might find it a little more comfortable.

I`m booked in to have them removed tmw.. I don`t recall being told a time scale from my Doc to have these removed. Once they`re out I can have a good nights sleep.

I agree, you will sleep better now but you still may have some tender spots.

All the best.
