Surgery with DR Doganay upcoming, Questions about after transplant care/look

Got a few available dates with DR Doganay coming up and I think I'm ready to take the plunge

they are helpful over there, just I think they must get a lot of inquiries and some might be lost in translation

I have a few questions about what to expect after the op
I know the post op results look great in comparison to the shredding to come and the so called "ugly duckling phase.

Question I have are about the treatment of the hair after and what can be done to get through these stages.

Usually I have my hair 'clippered' anyway, without a guard, just raised slightly a .5mm

Can you carrying on clipping your hair super short, maybe 2-3 times a week at all times after transplant?? I figure the shortness and shade will make the hair seem better during the ugly ducking period???

Can you wear a hat at all times after transplant??

Whats the best look/treatment aesthetically for your hair after in the whelms of whats possible??

I realise this is no quick fix and the end product is months after transplant but I'm also thinking I should have my hairline brought forward slightly so it maybe more outstanding/noticeable then if i was just filling in the gaps

Hi and welcome to the forum. After surgery you will be able to buzz your hair that length at one week as all the grafts are securely in place by then. You can wear a hat immediately as long as its loose fitting and whenever possible take it off to let your head get some fresh air to it. You will be quite red in the transplanted area, lots of people have used Aloe Vera oil to sooth it and help the redness fade quicker.

yeah will be posting as i go, so 1 week or more i can keep a shaved/buzzed head from that time forward, is that the most aseptically pleasing to eye thing to do?? I imagine so and its how i have my hair anyway, just cant find a good accounnt on here of a situation close to mine

Yea shaving it is fine. As for aesthetically pleasing, it should look good although it could be quite red.

thank for the help guys, getting closer to the time now. But still not 100% on the answer here on what to expect. I know i can buzz my head no problem couple weeks after FUE which is cool as not much shedding will have set in at this point

I realise the transplanted area goes "whispy" in the ugly duckling phase. But im struggling to see any image of someone that keeps there hair buzz cut throughout recovery to see how it looks this way

I know there will be redness for a good few months also so I'll only chop it down when i the shedding hits hard

Will bringing it forward like this mean it looks over weird??

i keep my hair or can keep my hair shorter than this i'm talking bare clippers if it helps disguise the recovery period

maybe just bring it forward 3/4 inch

Hi Mate Just seen your thread and wish you all the very best with your surgery , just looking at your design that you have chosen what you must take into consideration and I am no expert but these points should be taking into account especially if your thinking of lowering your hairline 3/4 inch 1.905cm and fill in the temple recession as well because i think you will need around 2800+ Grafts IMO normally for the hairline density has to be right and this will take some grafts
a) How old are you
b) What is the history in your family for Male Pattern Baldness very important
c) What is your Donor Density
d) Are you taking Hairloss Medication Propecia and Minoxidil to help stabilize loss
e) Have you checked from previous pictures from the past were your hairline was
f) Have you thought about long term if you bring the hairline down now then if you were still to lose hair in the future this could be a problem.
g) have you thought If you take the safe route first and fill in the temple recession as you first planned lets say 1800 grafts then you could see how this works out then revisit the idea of the hairline lowering .
Friend I say this because I done my transformation in stages and i checked the above especially the family history and also i took my age into account , do not rush into anything especially when lowering the hairline its gotta look right and you must think of the future as well .

On Page 4 in the Patient section their is a case were a member kept his hair clipped the thread is Boberto and he had 2850 grafts placed As stated am no expert and their is many members on this forum who maybe to help you better have a great day

In the same position as you man, I have my 2 day FUE session this week and I plan to keep buzzing my hair without guards until the 'ugly duckling' phase has past and it has begun to grow back and thicken. I've kept my hair that short for years, so what's another few months lol

Im off on a stag do first week of sept so hoping i can be in well before then to get it all shreaded off for holiday lol
