BHR Clinic Patient Advisor
Hi all!
Here we have Tony's testimony of his BHR surgery that I'm posting on his behalf and in his own words.
I did the FUT HT with Dr. Christian Bisanga at BHR Clinic, Brussels, Belgium.
I am 43.
I planned to have a FUE but several doctors I have consulted in person or by mail (in England, Belgium, Thailand) have recommended FUT. Others, in Turkey, have suggested FUE but eventually I decided to go for the doctor I felt most comfortable with and went for the FUT he recommended.
Grafts count: 3533
1 hair: 673
2 hairs: 1439
3 hairs: 1455
4 hairs: 351
Total : 9320 hairs
Donor density: average of 71.2 UF/cm2
Type of hair: medium fine
Never took medicines.
My HT took place early April 2014. The team has been really great before, during and after the surgery. Highly professional and very kind people looking for your well being at all times.
Here are a few pictures of the day of surgery. Before and after.
The entire process lasted 9 1/2 hours. Long day but no real pain and excellent dynamic and interaction with a highly professional team.

Placement
4 Weeks Post-op
Redness and lots of grafts have shed.

3 Months Update
Well, well. There it is. The 3 month mark after witch I hope to see more significant growth. Things have been evolving which is great. There are clearly more hair than last month and even than last week but I am not yet in a position to go out without a hat to cover my head.
A number of hairs seem simply not to appear on the picture. They are very thin and almost transparent. I wonder if they will turn out to be darker and stronger. Is that the way the growth happens ? First like a fuzz and then a real normal hair ?
I don't feel the redness has reduced significantly. It always depend on the light but inside, with artificial light, it appears more red than with natural light. I hope this will faint away soon. I put aloe vera once a day, not sure if it helps or not.
Scar seems to be ok, I almost ever feel it anymore.
The crown is still a concern but I guess I'll deal with it after the rest is done.
I am planing to go get an haircut. My assumption is that I should have the shortest hair possible, taking in consideration the scar, so that it is more in line with the new hair growth.
Trichophytic Closure

5 months Update
Here is an almost 5 month update. I can see that there is more than on my 4 month update. I shall get a haircut because it is actually hard to see if there are more hairs or if the ones I had at month 4 have grown and cover more.
I guess not everything shows on the picture. Touching my scalp I feel some new small hair growing that even with a close-up picture seem not to be visible. I am confident I am on the right track.
6 Months Update
Well, the 6th month is an important mark for me as I started a few weeks back to go out without a hat, after a useful haircut. I might need a new one one...
Life has changed. I met with many people I did not see since my HT and did not know I did anything. Not so many said nothing. Just some who might have seen a difference but did not dare ask. Most people commented things like :
- "Oh, you are looking great!"
- "Every time I see you you seem to look younger"
- "Do you have a new haircut ?"
- "You look in good shape and younger. Did you start working out ?"
- "You'r like wine, getting better as time passes"
Some, but not to many quickly figured out I had a HT. And they all had very positive reaction:
- "waww, it looks amazing. Tell me all about it !"
- "well done ! can I touch ? is it supposed to last ? It looks so natural. "
- "You are so lucky, I always wanted to do it but my wife would not let me.."
As I said I am feeling great. I see a major change even if according to the lightning, more or less density is seen. That's expected.
I understand from Dr Bisanga who I met a couple of weeks ago that I am probably at about 60% growth. So there is more improvement to be expected. I am very excited about it.
Here are some pictures, always trying to use the same camera, at the same place and same time of the day:
7 Months Update
Just got an haircut the day before taking the pictures. Maybe too short actually.
Anyway, here are the pictures. I don't see improvement from last month. Again, it is hard to say if there is any as it depends also on the light. At least this time it is not as visible as in previous month.
