Hi! Now I'm in week eight and my donor area is recovering. I haven't request the surgery pictures yet. As soon I do it I'll post them here. Thanks
Can you post a photo or two? :)

Would be fun to follow your progress!

Yes, these two pictures were taken last Sunday (week 8). I can see and feel hair growing in the recipient area as well as hair regrowing in the donor area. Thanks guys!

I noticed that one week, or week and a half, ago my hair is not longer falling down, which I guess it´s a good signal. I also started last week Minoxidil spray 5% (I was told it must be used for at least 1 year!!!)..... Have a nice Sunday!

Did they say to use it to help with the shock loss or that you’ll need to use it forever to retain any hair that is improved by it?

Hi Bigmac! I asked them for how long I should use Minoxidil, they told me for one year ... However I have read that Minoxidil treatments are long lasting, meaning that stoping its use is not recommended as all the positive effected may be lost in 3 months. Is it like that?

I really hold my thumbs for you that the shock loss as we are seeing is not overharvesting, as the harvesting of the grafts seemed pretty brutal.

Minoxidil is more of a complement in my opinion. Many have a problem to keep using it long-term since it is maily used in topical form, and because as you say you should continue to use it. I am more a fan of Finasteride since it is easier to just take a pill every day.

These are my results after 6 months now.
I guess the progress is quite good. I'm using Minoxidil 5%, but my hair gets very dry, maybe due to the alcohol component on it. I haven't risk to use any nutritive, conditioning or smoothing product. Any suggestions?

To be honest I was really worried with your donor area, now it looks like it was all shock loss and it has healed good.

It looks like good progress for 6 months.

Hey Carlos,
I’m really happy to see the donor area has recovered well and that at 6 months your growth is looking good.
Regarding the minoxidil, if you search for no alcohol minoxidil you’ll most likely find a company who can supply it to your place of residence. The alcohol is usually to blame for dryness and irritation.

Were you able to purchase and have it shipped?
Hi Bigmac. I searched, but in Portugal it's not available. I'll try in other EU countries, as import formalities even for small pharmaceutical products or quantities it's quite difficult. Keep on searching

Wow Carlos, I was like Loui to be honest and feared the worst with your donor area but your hair now looks great, with the donor area looking like a complete recovery has been reached. You must have had a few nervous moments in between.

Please tell us how you were feeling in all this and how you feel now, as I would be surprised if you weren't extremely anxious at some stages ?

Hi SimBa. In deed I was vedry nervous, mostly on month 1 1/2 - 2 when I started having the evidence of hair loss schock. That was the moment I decided to join this forum, not (only) to show my procedure but mostly searching for advices and references. I am a very quiet person, my life style is quite good (no alcohol, some cigs, not much processed food, 7 hours sleep/day) and I think those habits helped me to heal. I must say that on day 3 after the operation I had to flight back home and connecting flights and stress were, really the most traumatic part of these days ( I also had a awful flight from PT to TK, via FKT, 18 hours wait for a simple connection! Well, it was during the pandemic, and chaos in large airlines and airports was evident). This is to say that my level of stress and fatigue prior and after the transplant was not the most appropriate. I even was scared that level of stress could affect the results.

Being said that, I started looking for other people and their results on YouTube. To my surprise, I was not the only patient with similar stages on the procedures. Sure I was one of the worst case scenarios. Many of those had a very positive recovery. I was patient and now that is month 7 I must say that I am satisfied and glad (soon I´ll post new pictures).

Have a great day!

Good for you, I'm glad you got to a place of being happy with the results. I'm not surprised you went through some testing times psychologically and fortunately it all looks to have come good.

From your pictures you look to have got a very good result
