WHAT HAIR FIBRE CONCEALER IS BEST?? - Caboki / Nanogen / Dermatech / Toppik???

Hi All,
I have thinned quite a lot over the top and crown of my head. I have been using Rogaine for some years now and looked into having a transplant however was advised against by this very same forum as I am still relatively young 26.
I just came across these Hair Fibre Concealers recently. Was quite weird in that I went to view an Audi S5 for sale and I happened to mention to the owner that I wanted a convertible as I am still relatively young and wanted to get it before kids and said not to be fooled by thinning hair. He smiled at me and said "do you think this is all mine" pointing to his own hair which to me looked like a perfect full head of hair. He then showed me the product he uses which was conveniently in his glove compartment and used it on me in the car and I was shocked with the results given he did it in literally 20 seconds, obviously it would be a better job if done properly and using hair spray (before after pic below). He was using something called Super Million Hair
1. So I have done a little research since and wanted to know what is the best product in your opinion overall and what I should purchase. I was well happy with supermillionhair however there are loads out there like Caboki, Nanogen, Toppik, Dermatech, 3dHair, etc.
2. There are also loads of others on ebay, some non branded, but I would only get it if it looks totally natural otherwise I would prefer not to use at all as I would fine that silly. Do you advise against ebay refill non branded fibres?
3. Are there any side effects, can it affect you hair and scalp negatively, I assume its best practice to remove every night.
4. Are normal hair sprays from boots fine to use or is it better to use the ones that come with the fibres?
5. What is the approx cost. Ive seen generally a 25g bottle is approx £30. How long would 25g last if I were to use and take off everyday (and the level of hair loss as shown in pic below?
Any help much appreciated! ¬b`

Welcome to the forum dude
I like the Surethick and nanogen from the shop on here the best. The hairspray from Boots etc should be fine too although i prefer the fixing spray from nanogen or mane myself. I would advise to wash it out every night too to keep your scalp clean and healthy dude.
The bottles last me a while but i only use it for special occcasions so i would guess it depends on frequency of use.

If you have already tried them and like the look i'm guessing you must still have some tiny hairs left on your scalp for them to adhere to which is good, but i hope you know the fibres won't work without them when they eventually fall out.
Have you any pictures with the concealor in we could see

Thanks for your reply Bullitnut!
From my quick research Nanogen seems to be coming out on top, however, I have heard good things about Caboki, or is it just the marketing? Have you ever tried it or have any opinion on it, as I understand its meant to be really good in terms of coverage but is not waterprooof - is nanogen waterproof?
You mentioned you prefer the fixing spray from nanogen - so is that noticably better than using more generic hair sprays from the high street?
Lol I know, Im hoping the little that I have left wont fall out! However one very important question is does the use of nanogen or other like products damage the hair that you do have (however little it may be) - i.e. the constant use of it on the scalp and washing out. If that is the case then that would put me off using them to be honest.
astly I have a before and after pic however I cant see to upload the attachement - cant see the upload button
Lots of questions I know - Sorry! ;;D

Cost wise DermMatch is great value and lasts a long time, if you can get a good look using that and a little Nanogen then that's what I would go for.You can upload pictures using the browse on a post or alternatively upload them to the gallery.
Cheers Bm.

Thanks bigmac. For some reason browse is no longer shown on page for me, i did upload pic in first post.
In terms of application would you recommend buying one of those toppik type spray applicators as opposed to normal shaking bottle over head, ive never tried it but id imagine its quite hard to do yourself, just like scartching your own back lol.
Any views on caboki, ive read the most positives about it and am leaning towards buying that. In terms of cost i woukdnt wear it everyday but rather when going out on weekends etc.

I've never used Caboki but have used Nanogen and DermMatch which I thought were great. Whichever you choose it takes a little time and practice to get it right, best way for me was to have an extendable mirror attached to the wall and a mirror front of me.
I've just sorted your account to so the browse should be available now.

The best fixing hairspray I have used is manufactured by Tesco, its less than £1 per can and gives a really good firm hold and is also non perfumed. I only use a small amount of concealor and it holds it in place really well.

Thanks for the reply Coppman.
Just took a quick look on tesco website is it one of these two youre referring to?
1. Firmhold Spray http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=263382841
2. Maximum Hold Spray http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=263382841
Which one do you recommend or is it a different one?
Also which concealer do you generally use if you dont mind me asking?
Thanks mate ;)

I have used both that you have linked above. Even when the spray turns the hair dry you can still comb out and restyle if and when necessary and both firm and max hold sprays do exactly what they suggest, i have no preference.
I use Mane thickening spray and for me personally its the best one. But everyone is different. I dont like Toppik, so thats definitely out of the question.
If you are using a thickening spray its best to experiment by buying 3 or 4 different brands and see for yourself which one is the best. Some sprays give more of a painted look effect, whilst others have a greater quantity of fibres within the spray.

I have never used used or seen a thickening spray, do they still use the fibres like Nanogen, or is there a major difference.

Dont know much about Nanogen. Probably worth looking at a few youtube videos of seeing it done.

Anyone used Caboki? I need something for this time next week but still haven't a clue what would work well on my longish hair.

Rowlands pharmacy branches throughout the UK sell hair fibres too. The ones in my local chemist are called Hairtoday Hair building Fibres.

There have been some pretty thorough comparison tests on hairfibre.org.uk

Nanogen v Toppik:

Nanogen Fibres v Couvre/DermMatch

hope these help.

I think Nanogen is better as Nanogen hair fiber is available in 10 different color shades so it can give more natural looking hair.

Nanogen seems to be the big name here in the UK, i did try toppik for a party a short while ago, i chose the same shade as i get in the Surethik and Nanogen brands but it was a lot different and didn't look as good imo.
