A Hair Transplant is when hair from the back and sides of your head is moved to the balding/thinning areas on the top of your head.

This hair is genetically programmed to resist the effects of male and female pattern baldness, however a doctor will assess your hair in this region to establish how healthy it is and therefor will decide on how many hairs can be harvested. This area of the scalp is generally known as the donor area and the hair is the donor supply.

This hair is programmed to grow for the entirety of your life, however in a small amount of people for unknown reasons they can unfortunately lose some or all of this hair.

There are two types of hair transplant, FUE and FUT ((strip), details on both can be found further down this section.

Body hair transplants have become more prominent in recent years, grafts are typically removed via the FUE method, the beard area being the most favoured although in some cases a small strip has been removed.
