Unlike MPB, Male Pattern Baldness or Androgenic Alopecia DUPA (diffuse unpatterned alopecia) does not sustain a localised stable safe zone of hair that can be harvested for a hair transplant.
Patients with DUPA develop hair thinning (miniaturisation) in the front and top of the scalp, plus the sides and back (safer donor zone). Usually, they are not suitable for hair restoration.
Treatment options are Finasteride and Minoxidil.
