What medicines (conventional+non conventional) cause excessive bleeding and with what consequences

I know that certain medicines like Warfarin for example can cause excessive bleeding, but what actual consequences other than the obvious mess can heavy bleeding cause?, and what actual difficulties can it provide for a doctor/tech performing the surgeries. Do you have any examples of problems or situations that have arose through this?

Not forgetting as well that there are non traditional medicines, vitamins/supplements that can increase bleeding which also need to be taken into consideration, does any clinic have any experience with a patient who had heavy bleeding due to taking supplements that werent aware of the possibility before hand?

In my opinion, Alcohol the day before a procedure is the worst!

Would the odd pint just to calm nerves make a huge difference hairtech?

On the subject of herbal thinners i was told by a close friend of mine who is a nutritionist that Garlic can have blood thinning properties if consumed in large amounts.*nl

Aspirin and anything containing it should be avoided a whole week before surgery. As hairtech says alcohol a week before although one glass of wine or a beer is not going to hurt but getting drunk the night before would be a big no no. Mind you quite why you would want to when investing so much money into a procedure!
