my last clinic said to only abstain from alcohol for 72 hours and to maintain a normal diet (and that's from one of the most well known clinics in the world). Another reputable surgeon i discussed it with dismissed the notion that it could interfere with the results after a certain a point (a few days).

Admittedly ive never heard post op instructions requiring 4 weeks abstinence from alcohol before ... but it's one of those things where you might want to adhere to the clinics advice should anything go wrong (otherwise they can blame you for the result). I personally dont see how an occasional drink can do much harm tbh.

Can you ask the clinic what their reasoning is?

The main reasons for not drinking alcohol in the days following your transplant are it thins the blood which could cause bleeding in the recipient zone which could cause grafts to pop out. Most people will be on pain medication, therefor mixing the is warned against. Lastly, if you were to have a few too many, you could end up having an accident that results in damaging the recipient area.
At 4 days the grafts are secure. Drinking in moderation is advisable.
I drank the occasional drink or two a few days after surgery. My results were not compromised at all.
