Who takes Avodart? and thoughts on the drug for hairloss

I am currently happy with how things are holding up with Finasteride but i am curious to know who has taken Avodart on here and what their thoughts are on the drug?

I have no plans to use this whilst Fin is still effective, but who knows what will happen in the future and there aren't many patient experiences with this drug on the forums, so it would be educational for me to learn a little more about peoples thoughts.

I would like to know to as I am about to start it after fin has become a bit ineffective for me.

If you've already had your hairline restored, dutasteride probably wouldn't provide any more benefit than fin.

For me it is not about restoring the hairline but thickening the crown. Since these medications, both fin and dut work best on the crown I am of the view that it will be able to lower DHT more, serum reduction is about 90% while scalp reducation of DHT 56% compared to about 30% on fin (roughly). Consequently I would expect dut to be able thicken more hair.

You'd have to judge whether the added effectiveness of dut is worth the increased risk of anti androgen side effects.

Thats very true, unfortunately theres no easy answer. I am going to give it a few months to see.

I'm interested too. I don't think fin does much for me bar maybe slow down the rate of hair loss.
