Why would a doctor respond only respond privately to moderator and not openly on thread?

I meant to say why would a doctor only respond privately to a moderator and not openly on thread? Any ideas? Is the moderator and/or doctor hiding something?

You see this happen regularly. There is often much more going on then you might know. Keep in mind too that often it is best to just discuss things privately than air it for all to see. There are always patient confidentiality issues, professional courtesy issues, attempts to avoid controversy, etc. Forums are a great resource but they also can be a pain in the ass for physicians.

I agree with NervousNelly. The forums are a great start but a prospective patient really needs to start speaking to dozens and dozens of patients and if possible the employees of clinics. This along with dozens and dozens of consultations in order to get a real feel for the truth and what the industry is really like.

Personally I try to post in a roundabout way about unproven technologies, older invasive methods of surgery, unethical doctors and clinics, poor hair transplant looking results, recommended lists and much of what I see. Unfortunately most of us can €™t come on to the forums and attack doctors and clinics that we know are doing more harm than good. Keep in mind many include some that are marketed and perceived as some of the top clinics. All we can really do is let others know about the clinics out there that are doing good and putting the patient €™s well being before profit.

As a repair patient it is very hard for me to stomach what I still see going on. With all the available information, it is almost an insult to me and others who have been taken advantage of in the past. To see so many prospective patients flippant in their decisions when it comes to having a procedure. Many with location and price at the top of their list of concerns. But I also understand this is the power of marketing and no one is more susceptible then a person who is somewhat desperate.

The expert in not necessarily the person in the white coat or the person that is profiting from putting a recommended list together. It could very well be the person who has been in the trenches and felt that blade cut across their scalp. Maybe their words are not as polished as the marketers but it comes from the heart.

I hope everything works out for you and that you find a solution to your present dilemma. If your procedure included the use of the Neograft then you should let others know. I have posted in the past and asked where were the results of the internet sensation Nalts. It was such a highly publicized surgery using the Neograft, yet over a year later and we have not seen the final result. It does make one wonder and should be cause for concern.

I thought patient confidentiality meant the doctor could not discuss the patient with anyone without permission. That includes moderators of websites. It just rises suspicion when a doctor is hiding behind private messages and not posting his side of the story openly.



@topcat my procedure with bauman was 3 strips not neograft. As far as nalts is concerned he recently sent me some insults on youtube. I did not insult back but merely ask for results of his procedure and got no reply.

Unfortunately is does sound like someone is trying to hide something and I don't think there is really much one can do about it. This does go and as I can attest to recently being banned from another forum for something that was read by the forum owner in one of my pm's to another member. I had expected that to be confidential information.

This forum owner would rather distract readers by posting cartoons of balding bob then to have an honest and open dialog.

Hopefully you will solve your dilemma, but it doesn't sound like it will be with this particular clinic.

These are words of wisdon. I apologize for being out of the loop and responding to the thread when obviously I didn't have a clue as to the exact scenario behind it. I personally don't know any of the members on this site (aside from Janna) but over time have gotten to get a good feel for their integrity thru their posts. Topcat is the true deal. I too am a repair patient and trust me when I say that we have the patients best interest in mind at ALL times.
