Hairtransplant by Dr. Feriduni : 1200 FUE frontal area + restoration FUT scar / my journey

Dear all , on this forum I will post upcoming weeks and months my hair transplant experience by dr. Feriduni . On the 19th of May my hair transplant will be done at the clinic in Hasselt / Belgium ( feriduni.com ) . Let me shortly introduce myself: I’m kevin and are at the age of 40 now. I’ve had two succesfull FUT hair transplants done in the past by dr. Feriduni . My problem area was always the temple area and receding hairline ( my hair loss started around the age of 24/25 ) . At 2008 I got my first successful FUT hair transplant done by dr. Feriduni ( around 2000/2200 grafts) . Dr. Feriduni did a great job , and the result was very satisfying.
Due to this good experience I decided to go for another fut hairtransplant in 2012 to fill up more my frontal / temple area . Due to financial means back then I did not choose for the FUE treatment , also since I did not mind the scar ( as I was not planning to wear my hair short anyway ) . And now around 14 years later my hair looks still good ( and I’m happy with the results of the work done by dr. feriduni ) , however secretly I still desire to have my hairline some lower and have my frontal / temple area more filled up . It’s like i want to finish my hair journey now by this third hair transplant. In addition also the fut scar kinda started to bother me. I miss having the option to trim my hair shorter on the sides and the back. Therefor I decided to contact dr. Feriduni again for a FUE hair transplant.

After seeing my pictures he suggested I would need around 1200 FUE to get my desired hairline and more thickness in the frontal area . As for my FUT scar restoration , the doctor said he needs to see the condition of my scar on the day of treatment . On that day the sides and back of my hair will get trimmed very short, hence the doctor can properly check my scar and tell me how many grafts are needed in order to make it look better. I will keep you guys updated about what will happen in this aspect . In this first post I will also show you pictures of my current condition ( see the pictures below ) . Looking forward to keep you guys updated soon with my new journey by Dr. Feriduni . Stay in touch ….. to be continued .

Welcome to the forum Kevin and thanks for sharing your hair restoration journey with us. Your hair looks good, it has held up well. Wanting more hair happens to lot`s of people.
Are you on any hair loss prevention regimen?
The sides of your donor look good. I don’t think there’ll be any issues with obtaining the graft numbers for this third surgery. Having your FUT scar assessed on the surgery day is a wise thing to do. I’ll be interested in seeing what the doctor thinks and if he will use all scalp hair or stick some beard grafts in.
I’ll look forward to hearing all about your surgery on the 19th May.
All the best.

Dear all , today I finally had my hair transplant at the clinic of Dr. Feriduni ( see: Feriduni.com ) . As always i was warm welcomed by the staff . After a short introduction to the plan for the day , the doctor came to pick me up for the intake and discussion about my expectations and the possibilities . As already had been spoken about earlier online , it was decided that my hairline would be lowered ( the filling up of the temple areas ) . Following the doctor took a look at my fut scar ( after my hair was shaven off ) and concluded that it could be corrected / filled up with FU’s taken from my donor area at the back / sides of my head . Henceforth my treatment started in the clinic . I have to give a big compliment the assistants Ann , Petra , Inge , Bret and Ilfie. They were very considerate of my wishes and handled their work very precise and accurately . There is a good atmosphere in the clinic , and I quickly felt comfortable. Lunch was offered to me as break and I could choose from various menus . Doctor Feriduni in addition did a great job by designing my new hairline and directing his assistants. He often also asked about my condition and if everything was fine with me . In others word you feel that you are in good hands . After my treatment was done the assistant explained to me all the guidelines I need to follow the next coming days and weeks in order to recover well . Moreover I was given a bag with with various medicines , a t -shirt with a wide open neck ( in order to avoid touching ones grafts when changing clothes ) , a neck pillow and an app which I could download that tells you exactly for each day what / when and which medicine to take . The upcoming nights will be hard for me , since I cannot sleep on the back of my head due the correction of my FUT scar . But it’s all worth the result I know :) . Below you can see the pictures of my hair after my treatment today . ( since I decided not to let my complete head be shaven , I have a kinda funny look now . But as the doctor said later on after a week or more I can start style my hair normally ) . Pictures Day 1 ( treatment day ) :

Congrats on your surgery. It looks very clean and tidy. How many grafts did it take to fill the strip scar?

Thanks brother . For filling up the strip scar the doctor used around 500 FU’s . As for my total treatment ( frontal area + fut scar ) the following amounts have been used : Single FU’s 403 ; Double FU’s 960 ; Triple FU’s 640 . Total FU’s are 2003 .

My pleasure qui Bono . Unfortunate I forgot to make a picture of the fut scar without grafts in it , since my phone was in the fitting room already when I got my hair shaven off .

Day 3 . Ok everyone let me post you all an update about my experience the first few days after my treatment . Sleeping has been difficult for me , since grafts have been placed on my fut scar as well on my temple area / forehead . In other words I need to make sure that the grafts on the front and back of my head don’t touch the pillow . I try sleep in the recliner , sitting staight up . I look quit like a zombie , but it’s all worth in the result :) . In the end we do it for the result . As for pain , only the first evening after coming home from the clinic I felt like pain coming in the transplanted area . The painkillers given by the clinic solved this issue. Further my head skin has like a burning feeling from the graft extractions ( which is a normal side effect after a hairtransplant) . My forehead is a little bit swollen , but not too bad . All in all , the pain is not too much . The most difficult part for me is just trying get some rest at night :) , but this will be able again soon , patience is a virtue I know . Further from now on I will post each Friday a weekly update of my progress ( after my first month , I will do a monthly update ) . Following I will show you my results / look of day 3:

I remember when i first tried sleeping with grafts in my fut scar - nightmare. I eventually took a travel pillow and tucked it under a loose fitting shirt that i wore to bed so my head wouldnt lean back into the grafts and at most i would only end up leaning against the travel pillow avoiding the grafts rubbing anything. If you have a travel pillow it might be worth trying idk.

Actually i also remember reading how one guy hired a massage table and slept with his head in the hole to avoid the fut grafts rubbing against anything as well lol

Once the grafts are firmly lodged things should get a little easier :)

@ qui Bono haha , you know exactly what I mean . Yeah the sleeping the first period is quit a thing . Actually last night I lied on my belly on bed …. but my forehead I put resting on my elbow and / or on small pillow at the height of my eyebrows ( kinda similar to lying on massage table ) , so that my grafts on the forehead and back both not touched anything . I found some rest for an hour or two / three , then my elbow got stiff from that position , but at least I had some rest . I got some swelling more on my forehead cause I put in on rest on my elbow or the small pillow for some hours , but luckily the swelling went away once I got up and walked around and drink water . Thanks for your tip . Well situations like this make you appreciate how precious it is to sleep normally and relax :)

oh that sounds rough!
well maybe try the travel pillow thing or even look at massage tables
it would be worth asking the clinic as well when you can finally rest on your donor area.

hang in there ...

I think this is going to turn out fantastic for you. If only you could fast forward the next 12 months. Dr Feriduni seems to be the place to go for repair patients in Europe.

Its one week after surgery , and so far I am satisfied with the way how things have evolved . I have resumed to normal sleep again . I only feel some swelling / strange feeling in the area just above my eyebrows , I assume this is maybe because the swelling between my eyes has not yet completely been gone . Further I feel quit good . Let me share with you all the pictures of my situation now . Picture update : 1 week ( after surgery ) :

Hi Kevin. The work looks very good. the donor extraction pattern looks excellent, nicely spaced out and looking very clean. Hairline design and placement looks great. The micro irregularities will help create the natural hairline that Dr Feriduni and the team constantly achieve.
Healing looks right on track. Sleeping, what a pain for you. Having two areas transplanted which limited how you could sleep but at least that part is over now and you can sleep normal again.
Those grafts in the strip scar should make it near invisible once they grow out. You did have a little forehead swelling left which should be gone now.
Thanks for all the updates.
Looking forward to the next one.
