Dr Mwamba?

Can anyone recommend Dr. Mwamba? I saw a user by the name of Mustang list him as one of his top surgeons (and he has been to many). I know that he is a well respected Dr. who has been on the scene for a long time, but I was just wondering how he stacks up to the likes of Bisanga, Feriduni, Lupanzula in Belgium (and other renowned Dr's across the world).

He just seems to have a lack of results to see online and I don't really ever see him recommended too often on any forums - would he be worth considering along with the likes of the above mentioned? Thanks!

He just posted about 20 new results here: //fueclinic.com/results/

I know he is working on another 50 videos from patients.

Dr Mwamba indeed had left "forums" activity. I asked him why when I went for surgery and he told me that he suffered a robbery in his clinic in Brussels and they took all of his hard drives and computers so he had lost years of before and after pictures, patient follow up and could not continue to post cases.

Since then he has began recollecting cases and has published these videos plus there are a couple of youtubers that went to him as well as a lot of new patients that he will post.

I can blindly recommend you go to Feriduni as well. I had a lovely experiences with him and great result. Lupanzula I can't recommend unfortunately but that is another story, He is a good surgeon though, I was just not treated fairly but I don't want to get into that in this tread.

The man himself - thanks for taking the time out to reply to my post.

How was your experience with the Dr? I know you're a fan obviously, but as someone who has been to a number of the worlds top clinics, would you say he would be as safe a bet as any other well-regarded surgeon in say Spain, Belgium or the States?

Dr Mwamba is very talented. I've met several of his patients a few years ago when attending a hair transplant workshop in Brussels. The results were very good and natural looking.

Thanks for the reply, Bigmac. Good to know. I have been considering the likes of Bisanga or Feriduni strongly recently, but Dr. Mwamba is a little bit more reasonable than those two in terms of price it seems. Not that cost is the driving factor in my choice - quality comes first, but if the level of expertise, experience and skill is essentially on par between the three then it only makes sense to me.

If required consult with all three of them. After evaluating them you may feel one better suits your needs
What is your hair loss situation?

No difference between him or other surgeons
In fact my last 4 surgeries were with him and I could have gone to anybody
He guarantees 95% growth anyways. If there is a little area with less growth it will be restored at no extra cost but with current protocols (new custom solutions for storing grafts) and his manual skills it's quite unlikely

Feriduni has 90-95% growth and does not perform the extractions, Couto the same, etc...

Mwamba does

Yeah, I have done so and honestly communications with all have been great. Ian at BHR is a nice gentleman who was helpful, as is the rep from Mwamba's clinic, and both have given me a similar plan of action so to speak. In any case I have made my mind up and chosen to go with Mwamba as contact with their clinic has been great and they have been able accommodate even further in offering an unshaven procedure which, although I know shouldn't really be a huge influence in any decisions, will just make the whole ordeal a lot easier and less stressful. Also Mwamba is very involved in the surgery and even often splits up smaller 2000-ish graft sessions up in to two days which is very delicate planning and rare to see.

My hair loss is confined to my temple areas and I am somewhere in the region of a NW3 I think, possibly a bit less, but no visible loss to anywhere else on my head as of yet as my crown and mid scalp are the same as ever as far as I can tell.

I'm 26 and in hindsight (looking at old pictures and videos) probably started losing my hair at around the age of 19/20, at least visibly looking back now, but I didn't realise too much at the time. It likely actually began a few years earlier than that for the miniaturisation to be apparent in those photos I can see when I was 20 odd. However the hairs that are now gone or miniaturised were sort of all already miniaturised at that point, almost like two triangles of hair all on either temple started to go at once rather than a gradual recession if that makes sense, and by the age of around 22 it had gotten to the point they thinned out significantly and my situation hasn't really change at all since then. My hair looks to be nearly the exact same now as it was around about 4 years ago, granted a little bit of hair in those triangular areas that were already very miniaturised have thinned out even more, but no real cosmetic/visual change from that and loss hasn't continued deeper into my temples, at least not noticeably anyway, since this time.

I have been on fin for about a year and a half anyway to halt further loss as I'm under no illusions that hair loss is progressive and know this is going to inevitably happen. Had no noticeable change for good or bad; no sheds, re-growth or visible thickening of hair, but also no deterioration, and maintenance is the goal anyway. Although I do feel like my hair would look the exact same if I hadn't been taking it for the past 18 months, it's more of a long term strategy as I plan to do what I can to hold on to as much native hair as I can for the rest of my life and hopefully treatment will allow me to delay the need for another transplant for the next 10,15 maybe even 20 years. I'm soon going to add Topical Dutasteride in once a week and will also be adding Breezula into the mix when it comes out.

I have attached some pics so you can see my situation.

And cheers Mustang and Bullinut for giving me a bit of assurance!

Hi JJL.
You`ve done your research which is good. You should achieve a very nice result with Dr Mwamba.
How many grafts will you be getting?
When are you thinking of having the surgery?
Good to hear the Finasteride is maintaining your hair. If it`s working well with no other signs of loss I personally would not use topical until you have to.

Yes I have been researching for the past year and a half or so and was originally planning to have the surgery towards the end of the year, but there are openings in the next few months so I thought if I'm going to go ahead with it anyway I may as well just get it over with now, especially as I imagine we aren't going to go back to normal any time soon with Covid, makes more sense to have some downtime whilst being stuck at home rather than getting it done as things the world starts to open up again.

estimates are for anywhere from 1600 to 2400 depending on hair characteristics etc, but I think it will end up being in the 2000-2200/2300 range myself.

Yeah I might do so, just a little bit of extra protection is all!

Yes the 2000 estimate looks about right. You'll achieve a nice new hairline with decent density. Check on the restrictions traveling to Belgium now as I believe you have to have a negative Covid test. This may change by the time you go there.

Cheers for the heads-up Bigmac, I'm due to go at the end of march/start of April now due to the lockdown as I assumed I would be unable to leave the country in Feb. Hopefully we will come out of formal lockdown then, but who knows. Has the 48 hour rule been in place for a while in Belgium now (i.e. is it likely to be the same when I go?). Cheers!

Congratulations on making your decision to proceed with surgery. The most important thing is that you have come to the decision of who is the right doctor and clinic for you personally. With this confidence, you relieve a lot of potential anxiety and have complete trust in your doctor and procedure.

Thank you for your kind words.
I wish you the very best of luck and look forward to following your evolution.

Hi guys,

Thanks to you all for sharing your thoughts and reviews, it really helps.
jjL1993 if you are still around, it would be great to hear from your experience and maybe see the results you had with Dr Mwamba if you did fulfill surgery in the end.

Regards,
Asriel
