Weak Donor Density

Hello

I had a consultation today and found out that I have weak donor density

Above my ears 55cm2
Back of my head 70cm2

Has anyone had a HT with successful results with this kind of donor density to play with?

Currently around a Norwood 3 pattern

You could have a successful hair transplant. It would be preferable for you to be on meds. Have you more thinning that is covered over with your hair as you don’t look like a nw3.
Did the doctor say you’re a candidate? If so, what was suggested moving forward?

Yes I was explained medication is a must for my case and has to be a long term commitment I restarted fin about a month ago with no problems so far.

The only thining Is what you see in the picture just at the temples.

I am a candidate and would need approx 1800 grafts to give me a conservative hairline I did feel this was very conservative but I under stand why.

I guess I'm at the point of either throwing the towel in and shaving it off and forget about it or get it done and have a hairline that I'm not overly happy with and try and retain as much as possible through medication

Was the plan to lower the hairline? What about keeping it where it is, strengthen a little and fill in the temple corners. I think this would give you decent density that would look good.

You have to be 100% sure it’s what you want.

Have you a picture face on? Block your face out. This will provide a better opinion.

4 awesome repairs with SMG
You look to have a pretty decent amount of hair to be honest so if your a candidate like they said and with the continuation of fin I can't see any reason you wouldn't be happy with the results of a HT (that is if you use a good doctor).......sometimes we can be our worst enemy by wanting lower hairlines that aren't always achievable..... with realistic expectations though I think your hair could look awesome dude.

Maybe get a few opinions/consultations and see if the consensus is the same dude.

I don't think your at the point of needing to shave it and forget about it just yet though....but obviously that would be easier I suppose and ultimately your decision.

The design did lower it slightly mainly just to come around and then fill in the corners I think in the pre op consultation I would see if I could avoid coming round the hairline and use the grafts to fill in the temples more If possible.

Yeah I have to he 100% I'm just worried that I wont have enough grafts for future loss based on rough calculations I was told I could have 5000 possibly 6000 depending on healing of the area as long as meds work well probbaly overthinking it.

Will upload a picture later on

Yes I will definitely be using a good known doctor would most likely be BHR wouldnt want to take any risk with the limited grafts I have.

Your probably right in my mind I want a lower hairline than what is achievable and what would look like a natural outcome.

Yeah shaving it off would be pretty drastic to be honest I'm definitely leaning more towards getting it done just need to get the confidence up to book it

Unfortunately, hair loss can be unpredictable but with the meds you stand the best chance of retaining what you have or slowing the progression right down. I would try to use the least grafts possible to achieve what you want.
Were you advised what density your forelock and surrounding hair is? Was a density suggested for the planned surgery?

I could not see if your age has been mentioned. I don´t think 1800 is particularly conservative approach, maybe 1200 would be conservative but 1800 is quite a big number when it is mainly only the temples that have receded. Maybe give it a few months on treatment to allow it to hopefully show an improvement.
