23 and hairloss

You have a 23 yr old writing on a forum and 3 or 4 caring clinics sniffing about , throwing out that lure hoping someone will bite . You start having surgery at 23 where does it stop ? I think more should be said on hair loss forums about just accepting mpb as being part of life and something not to be ashamed of . I just saw a photo of my mates on a night out over Xmas all in there mid 40s all bald , all look good .

Yes I agree many more options for young guys nowadays as in the past. With MMA being very popular along with screen stars such as Jason Stratham and Vin Diesel for example you can still be part of the group. Use a thinning hairline or a shaved head to your advantage if you can. More focus should be placed on what they are feeling, why they are feeling it and alternative ways to work around it.

Some forums do have value as young guys with hairloss can read these types of messages and maybe look at things a little differently and that is what gives it value. Otherwise they could easily end up on the website of some scumbag hairloss guru who is a guru because he makes the cash. That person is not necessarily going to give them the best advice but what only benefits themselves without opposing views. Young desperate guys are very impressionable and easy to take that bait. So the forums can be a positive force in many ways.

Much better to have the forums where we can watch what is going on.

I bet they all look like bald middle aged men. I can see your point about guys in their early 20s getting HTs, but I'm not sure why your bald 40 year old friends are any reason I would stop a medication that I tolerate well and reduces my hairloss to a crawl.

Actually they don't , you stick a Fred perry on . A black sabbath t-shirt a smart pair of Levi's , shave your head you look like a healthy 45 yr old not a fat bald guy in a cheap business suit . My point is if you can handle hair loss at a early age it will become easier as you get older . Without the anxiety of waiting for your next h.t as like I said when you start where does it stop . There are alternatives which generally starts with acceptance of your situation .

I can see where you're coming from Zionaxel, unfortunately not everyone is comfortable with a shaved look, I feel the good thing here is young guys get good advice from different perspectives, ie shaving head, meds, etc. it's when they can't find the advice and helpful information that they make decisions they may later regret.

BM that's true I wasn't when I was 23 , really wish I had been though . But I also didn't really have anyone to talk to about it either . There wasn't Internet forums with different perspectives on hairloss . I found it hard and uncomfortable to speak to anyone about it , even friends who were also suffering from hair loss . The thing with forums now for younger guys is that if they can see that male patten baldness can also be handled without drastic measures they can handle it . I'm not trying to come across as bitter just because I got f****d over at that age but with getting older you do change how you feel . A friend said to me if they found a cure for baldness tomorrow he wouldn't bother with it , he has a good life why change it . I agree with him , trouble is with me I made the mistake and have some pretty nasty scars to show for it .

In all walks of life there are people who aren't going to be happy with their body and appearance, some just accept it whilst others want to change it.
Hopefully in this day and age most people can access information to help them fully understand the situation and to get helpful advice, there are lots of members on here who will give their honest opinion like yourself which will ultimately help others.
A valueable piece of information young patients constantly receive is to wait a few years, some may try the meds with great success whilst others aren't so lucky, however this time frame gives them the chance to get helpful advice, maybe accept their hairloss and get on with life.

It €™s difficult to face the fact that hair transplant patients and patients on medical therapy may be chasing this problem much further than they may anticipate. Our purpose for instructing against surgery as the first and only course of action is to save patients from themselves. Ethical clinics know that younger patients may not know what their best interests are while others simply look to make financial profits. All patients, whether they be young or suffer from advanced hair loss, should know that surgery comes with its effects. It's all about disclosure.

I agree. DHI always advise young people to try hair loss therapies and other options before deciding. However, some people are willing to go with an HT even if you explain them the risks (unstable MPB etc). In adition, some patients are willing to have more than one HTs in the future. That's why it is very important on using minimum grafts especially for young patients with unstaible MPB.

If you start having surgery at twenty-three, you will surely lose the race against hair loss and possibly deforming yourself in the process. There €™s a right time and place for everyone to make such a life changing decision as hair transplantation. You have way too much living to do at the age of twenty-three than to be thinking of cosmetic surgery. The only thing keeping a young gentleman from flat-out losing the race is the unknown amount of time that it takes to lose. Stay away from any surgery until the age of twenty-eight because you will then make a better informed decision that is based on your progression. Besides, there are no guarantees with a hair transplant procedure.

It is true that my doctor didn't want to handle my case. They made me sign a paper about it. It was my decision but as you can see there was no other solution for me.
