3361 grafts to reduce forehead size - 7.5 months

Hello.

New to this forum, wanted to share my experience. I always had a large forehead and wanted to make it smaller. I'm in my 30s, and since I've had the exact same forehead since I was 19 years old, I figured this is a great time to make it happen (especially now that FUE has pretty much caught up with FUT as a transplant method).

I did mine in Brazil with Dr. Thiago Bianco Leal.

Supposedly still have a few months of growth left, as people say that it improves for up to a year. Looking forward to it

I don’t know about Dr. Thiago Bianco Leal so it’s great to see your progress and hopefully the end result. I take it you don’t have any noticeable hair loss, just a high hairline that you wanted lowered. Those 3361 grafts are densely packed in there. What was it per sq cm?
Your growth looked decent at 3 months and looks excellent at 7.5 months. I’d say you’ve had most if not all your growth now looking at that picture. You may still get some in the next 5 months but I’m thinking you were a fast early grower and have achieved your result early. Maturing will continue as the transplant,anted hairs go through their growth cycles.

I self counted the density post transplant. I counted in 3 separate spots (1cm^2), and the counts were I believe 76, 78, and 81 follicles per cm squared.

I know it's higher than most people consider doable, and I'm sure I didn't have 100% graft survival, but I think the result was pretty great.

You are correct as well, I don't have any noticeable hair loss, my forehead is the same size that it was when I was 19, and I'm in my 30s now.

Dr. Thiago is probably the best HT surgeon in Brazil, he has done quite a few celebrity cases that all turned out great (Brazilian celebrities). He has a "ultra density" procedure that I opted for to get said follicles per cm2. I think he only does this for cases such as my own, where I won't be needing a second or third transplant in the future. He does do normal dense packing for most cases, around the 55/cm^2 average I believe.

Do you have any donor extraction pictures? I like to see the extraction patterns and how the area heals.
Also, did he provide you with a graft breakdown?

Sure. He's some of donor area extraction pattern:

I don't have any better quality images, because I just took screenshots of video I took of my donor really quickly. That's the best resolution I can find.

I didn't ask for a graft breakdown. I just know that it was 3361 grafts, and that I had an average of 2.3 hairs per follicular unit. Also as can be seen, quite a few hairs were taken lower down at the nape of the neck for making the hairline.

EDIT: All these pictures are from 2 days post op, after having it cleaned twice, so it's kinda hard to see extraction spots, since a lot of the scabs are gone, and it's no longer very red.

Extractions look good and you seem to be a quick healer. There’s been a long running debate about using nape hair because its outside the universal safer zone. More clinics do use it these days than 6-7 years ago. I myself have used it.

Yeah, I'm quite happy with the temple points. One of the bigger reasons I chose him is because I saw some amazing temple work he did on previous patients.

No, not a surgeon. I can see why the confusion with me saying I used nape hair but I meant I had grafts taken from my nape and placed into my scars. Some people will recede from the neck/nape upwards. In my opinion the hair loss meds are required to help prevent this happening unless you have no signs of hair loss/miniaturisation and the doctor is confident these hairs should be safe to use.

Are they able to do that with long hair? I know when they checked the density of my donor, it was already shaved down very short.

Thanks, I'm quite happy with them. Though honestly, I'd actually prefer them to be slightly less dense than they are, but that's nitpicking. Since I haven't really cut them, they're getting pretty long. I think they'd look fantastic if cut very short.

But that will only be the density that it was implanted, doesn't take into account graft survival.

I did manually count it myself after the surgery, and it was between 76 and 81 grafts per cm2.

They can use a densitometer if they have one. Although with you counting them and what looks like a very high survival rate your numbers will be pretty accurate.

Pretty similar to the 8 months. Just longer hair I'd say.
