7 hair transplant considering shaving and SMP

I’ve had seven hair transplants. The first 5 were mid-90’s older style, and the last 2 modern single hair grafts. I’ve always been very self conscious about them. I went to a SMP guy who has many great reviews, and he wants to shave my head and do SMP all over. I’m very nervous about it. Has anyone else who’s had multiple hair transplants done this and what were the results? Thanks for your help.

Hi Superbig. Do you have more pictures you can post showing your hair from a few feet away? Also, more details on your surgery and current hair loss condition?
Are you on a hair loss prevention regimen?
Have you FUT scars that are visible?

Hi. Yes I’ll post more pics. And I stopped Rogain and Propecia….neither seemed to do anything. Do you think they would still help? And yes I’ve had 7 strip procedures and the scars are visible when I’m not wearing a concealer like Caboki, which I always do. My other option is to do a FUE. Several doctors have told me I could get around 1500 grafts without it being noticeable.

Would it be possible le to add pictures from further away to show what your transplanted area on top looks like? It looks quite sparse in the pictures you’ve posted. Have you any idea how many grafts you’ve had with the 7 transplants?
Your donor looks thinned out. If you could get 1500 max grafts, where would they be placed? Have you a surgical plan from the doctors you consulted?

Hi. Thanks for your replies. Here’s another pic. It’s with the hair filler I use (Caboki). It doesn’t look too terrible with the fillers. I don’t have any idea how many grafts I’ve received. And yes I l could probably get 1200 grafts from my donor area. Do you think my donor area would be noticeably more thin if I did it? 1200 would make a good difference up front to blend I think. The surgeons all tell me the same, wherever I want them.

With a little concealer your hairline looks fine. If you can get a few more grafts and the dr guides you to the best place to have them that seems like a good idea to me. A decent dr will spread out the FUE extraction for you. I can not see shaving for SMP. However good it is. If you do not like you could not grow your hair long until the pigment faded totally or you had it removed.

What doctors are saying wherever you want them? If you do have surgery the grafts need to be used wisely as it’s probably the last of your scalp donor. You may have the option of body hair grafts for your strip scars or to add density on your scalp. SMP may help to disguise the scars also. Would it be possible to show a picture of your scars?

Sure. Yes I think I could get maybe 1200 grafts from the more dense portions of the back of my head with FUE. But I’m very worried they’ll take too much and leave me unhappy with that area too. Here’s the pics.

Where would you want the grafts placed? Where do you feel they’ll be most beneficial?

I would put the hair in the front. Definitely need it there the most. Does body hair have a similar graft survival rate?

Sorry for the late reply. Body hair has a very high survival rate, probably similar to scalp hair but make sure it’s done by a clinic with experience.
