Transplant is done under the influence of local anesthesia. There is no pain. Yes, some anxiolytics are advised by the doctors before surgery. But best done only under advice from the doctor and not take it without prescription. Once you are comfortable with the doctors and the people of the clinic which is very much done in your visit a day prior to surgery helps more than any medication could.

Hi, Normally 10 mg to 20 mg Diazepam is recommended. To control your fear of pain, some clinic also used numbing cream or sprays and some vibrators. The role of vibrator is just to divert your concentration. No need to worry as you can discuss your issue with hair transplant doctor to calm down your anxiety.

I was worried like you once I’d booked my HT but once I got there I was reassured and made totally comfortable by Dr Arshad and his team. When we were discussing the hairline I was give a Diazepam to calm my nerves. Once in the operating room the injections were totally bearable and only lasted a few mins.

It would help if you discussed this with the Dr in person. Maybe ask if it is possible to see the surgery room at your consultation prior to making any commitment. While everyone is slightly apprehensive, which is perfectly normal. Having a phobia as you said could impact how the day goes. The day is focused on a medical procedure. This entails your well-being. Much of this is maybe able to be alleviated by talking to the Dr. Building trust and rapport. Medications can be used to compensate but if this can be reduced all the better.
