Advice on surgeons in U.K. and abroad pls

I was previously intent on getting my HT during 2021; with Ferreira or Bisanga doing the surgery. Unfortunately, one thing led to another, alongside the travel restrictions and it had to get put on the back burner.

Whilst dipping my toes back into researching to see if there were any doctors in the U.K. that were also well rated, I came across The Hair Dr (Dr Arshad) & Farjo. Reddy being out of what I was willing to pay. It seems that Dr Arshad’s current result leave a lot to be desired which leaves Farjo. I note that he is less aggressive density wise but the results I’ve seen so far seem impressive. Not seen anybody with similar hair or requirements to mine from them yet though…

Still open to travelling, but seeing some of the waiting lists 12-18 months is very offputting.

I suppose I’m looking for an updated list on proficient surgeons. Both in the U.K. and abroad. With reasonable waiting times being very important. I am looking to lower my hair line slightly and get the hairline reconstructed along side temple areas.

As opposed to most Caucasian males I see, most mixed (black/ white) or black males I know prefer a boxed off dense hair line, so please take that into consideration.

Some pics for reference.
Hair combed back in sunlight in these pics.

Have you tried Finasteride? I think it could improve your crown loads and minoxidil for the front. You could grow enough back which might be enough to not go for a hair transplant. Did the clinics say how many grafts you needed if you got one?

Hi, I considered the meds but they wont lower my hairline or get the temples back from what I understand. Would definitely consider fin for the crown. I was told that I would need between 2200-3000 from about 4 different surgeons. Bisanga was 26-2800. Bruno 3000 max

Hi mate
I think finesteride would be good to try for 1yr it could thicken up ur hair at the front to make it look like u have a straighter hairline
Most people are takin topical finesteride now, i think cos it gives u less side effects
Also from what ive heard also gives u better results
I think u hair and hairline looks really good and appropriate for ur age
I think dr edward ball is good in Portsmouth
Its called maitland clinic

Hi Andreas. You have a diffuse thinning pattern throughout your scalp which is best treated with hair loss meds to stabilise and quite possibly improve it. If you go ahead with surgery, any transplanted hair benefits could be lost if you lose more native hair. You say you want your hairline and temples done. What if you lost all the hair behind. I think you should consider the meds, give them 12 months provided no sides, use this time to research more or if you`ve already researched the doctors enough to make a choice, you could always book a date for 12 - 18 months time. By then, you should know what's happening with your diffuse pattern and meds.
How old are you?

Minoxidil might improve the hairline. The oral version seems to be the popular choice these days.

Hi guys, appreciate the advice.
I’m 44 for reference and hair hasn’t got much thinner in the last few years. It seems stable at this stage.
I’ll have a look at some threads regarding fin and min.
I’ve just had an offer of getting the work done by Bruno in late February so I’m going to need to have a look at the meds options immediately.

If you know of any good thread please drop a link.

Thanks

Is it a cancellation that the doctor has? I would ask him about the meds if you decide to book with him.

Hi @Andreas Townsend

You have received some great advice and I would reinforce the message of considering medication.
It is such a shame to see individuals undergo surgery and even with a great result, then begin to lose ground amongst or behind transplanted hair due to not using medication and this then requires a further surgery if their donor allows, and could have possibly had been avoided with a more preventative approach.

I your case, with your pattern of loss, you may even recover and strengthen hair which could have a significant cosmetic effect by itself.

As you have mentioned, medication will unlikely "lower my hairline or get the temples back", but the very fact that you are considering to lower your hairline increases the "requirement" to consider medication to support and maintain behind.

I wish you the best.

Can I ask if there are particular brands, strengths people recommend. I’ve done fairly extensive research in the surgery but have no idea about meds…

Regards to meds
1mg finesteride maybe take mon wed fri
I still think stick with propecia brand but thats my opinion
Regards to topical finesteride or monoxidil ny opinion just too much of a pain in the arse to apply to scalp daily and most guys stop using it so they end up losing what they gained
Results ive seen with topical not that good more of a peach fuzz of hair
I think still to oral meds to keep what u have and thicken up then say after a yr or so if u are in a postion for hair transplant go for a matuer hairline design and a top surgeon who will plan ur future loss

In my experience generic Finasteride has worked well. Many online outlets sell it, Dr Fox, United and Oxford pharmacy.

I did research) one of the clinics even sends their workers for few months to teach Europeans how to do hair transplant lol

Which clinic sends their workers to Europe and trains who?
