Advice on UK Doctor for best graft survival / density of coverage

Hi all
I'm really keen to please get some advice for which Doctor in the UK to use as I've decided to have a hair transplant and being Norwood 5 its important for me to get it right as my donor area may not provide for a lot more hair in the future. I'm being realistic in that I'm not looking to lower my front hairline from where it currently is, but what I'm after is density to cover the balding area - being the front, top and crown.
Having read these forums I know that survival of grafts is vital in the process as this is what will determine how much density you'll achieve - and so is there a Doctor in the UK who has a really good graft success rate and is good at providing density of coverage (so I suppose I'm after the best volume possible) - its quite a large area I'm looking to cover and I've attached some photos to give you an idea.

many thanks in anticipation,
Cooty

In the UK I would go with Dr´s such as Ball and Farjo for starters, take a look at similar results to yourself. Both have been around and are consistent with their work. Whether anyone can give you what you want you need to talk to them, if you want full coverage it´s normally not done by the top clinics. Be good to see what they say, good luck.

Thanks for your replies Smokey & Philw - I think Phil you may have misinterpreted my enquiry as I was endeavouring to ask which UK Doctors have a really good graft success rate and are good at providing density of coverage....... so I would be most grateful to receive people's thoughts on the surgeons they would recommend.
I will be posting who I go with and providing photos as it progresses.

Hi Cooty. Are you thinking of FUE or FUT? Are you on any hair loss prevention regimen?
To gain full coverage you’ll be looking at in excess of 4000 grafts. Some clinics will offer a surgery of this size while others will say a two surgery approach. Survival rates will depend on the skill of the doctor and the supporting staff. How well trained the staff are, how competent they are, how involved is the doctor.

As an example. I had surgery with Smg. The doctor removed my strip, sutured the wound and proceeded to make the recipient incisions. The technicians dissected my grafts into the various groupings. The doctor checked the grafts, then left the technicians instructions on what to place where. He had full confidence in their ability, they were all established and good at their work. The Doctor would check periodically on the progress and once finished he checked the whole area. On some occasions he did the stick and place method on my hairline right at the end of surgery.

Coverage is not the only issue, you want naturalness too and future hair loss planning in place. Your hair characteristics will play a part. Your hair to graft ratio, if you have a higher density of 3 and 4 hair grafts.
Opting for a mature hairline is wise.

As for who is best, people will usually recommend their clinic of choice if they had a result they’re happy with. One persons expectations is not necessarily what another person would be happy with. If you wish to stay in the UK, there are a few clinics who participate on here and post their work. Look at the patient posted results, see if you’d be happy if you achieved something similar. Most clinics will probably be able to provide the coverage you want in either one or two passes.

You can ask the clinics what density they plant at. What their graft survival rate is, these days above 90% is what you should be aiming for. How long have the staff been technicians. Consult with a few clinics and compare.

Thank you kindly for this info Bigmac - I am finding that some clinics say FUE and some FUT - I'm open to having whatever provides the best results. I've been on Regaine for a couple of years, which did help retention of hair - I tried Finasteride years before but stopped due to sides.

Much appreciate the wiseness of your advice and I have added the points made to my list of questions - so thank you very much for taking the time to put all this in your reply to me.
Thanks again Philw and Smokey - and does anyone else endorse their choices or have any other recommendations please?

Hi mate
Ive looked at ur pics again
I reckon stop the monoxidil all together cos u will eventually get fed up using it meaning u will lose all the hair u gained
Maybe try finesteride 1mg mon wed fri see how u get on
Regards a hair transplants always go for fue not strip cos when u get older u might want to just cut short and u wont be able to with strip in my opinion
Focus on ur hairline and mid scalp first before work on the crown

Cheers Phil - I think with FUE or FUT given what Bigmac has said a lot of it comes down to how much coverage you want, what your own hair characteristics are such as hair to graft ratio and how much donor you have to enable it..... and the best way of 'mining' it. May I ask if you've had hair surgery and if so what clinic / surgeon you used?

This post has no relevance to the OP question. It comes across as promotion for a clinic.

This post has no relevance to the OP question. It comes across as promotion for a clinic.
He’s asking for advice of which doctor to use.. It clearly states that in the first line of his OP.
I’m offering an opinion and engaging with the user to share a review.

I haven’t advertised directly on his thread, I’ve provided the opportunity to read about my story should he wish to learn more about a transplant before he committed to one.
Although different areas, my thread also contains pre op and post op pictures so the OP could see the quality of results should he wish to go ahead with whatever doctor he decided.

Thanks for reply all the same though Karen!
