When you have a hair transplant there are different stages you go through, immediate post operative where you will see all your new grafts placed and think to yourself wow, this looks good.
However this is short lived as the grafts usual fall out(shed) after ten days and you may look worse than before you had surgery, this is commonly known as the ugly duckling stage, it can be a difficult time if you're wanting to keep your hair transplant a secret.
At thre months some patients start getting new growth, these are the lucky ones as usually it's around the six month mark for growth but sometimes a little longer.
By nine months you should see a noticeable change in your appearance with new growth and by month twelve usually you see the final result however the hair can continue to improve several moths after this date.
It's important to take pictures from start to finish as this will show you how far you have come. It's easy to forget how much hairloss you had.
Expectations and results vary from patient to patient, hair characteristics and other deciding factors pay a role in the final result, therefor you may get the same amount of grafts as patient x but you may feel that patient has a better result but in reality this may not be true as for instance, a patient with curly hair will have the illusion of more coverage than you but this is down to that patients characteristics.
You will never gain a full head of hair again but you can achieve ample coverage to give the illusion of a full head of hair, so as long as you're realistic in your expectations, you should achieve your goals.
If you have minimal loss you could get as near as possible to your original hair density but you must be aware that future Hairloss may occur.
