Anyone any experience with Bosley Clinic? Are they any good? I just need some to beef up my hairline. Im not really thinning anywhere else and it has not gotten any worse for years.
Thank you for any advice offered

Yeah sure you can count Bosley on my list of mistakes in the past about 20 years ago €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦maybe they have gotten better but here is the thing, cosmetic surgery is not conducive to the franchise system regardless of the company name. Sure you can have a doctor that personally trains someone and have them turn out great because maybe not only are they highly skilled but the doctor is also a great teacher and has an eye for capability in another. But to do this on a large scale in an impossibility in my opinion.

Franchise systems work well with something like food, cleaning carpets, painting cars etc. Think McDonalds, Stanley Steemer or Earl Schieb, he will paint your car for $99 regardless €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.guaranteed..............might look like crap but the price is guaranteed.

With a franchise you implement a system and everyone follows the system. Cosmetic surgery is very different as each customer is unique and the skills necessary to perform hair transplant surgery are unique as it is more art than surgery. Same would apply to something like robotics.

Can we set up a system where a Rembrandt can train 100 up and coming artists to all be Rembrandts €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦the answer would be no.

I would pass on Bosley and look for a specific doctor and base you decision on his/her body of work. Bosley runs some nice ads but that is about it.

Wish I knew back then what I know now when all this knowledge would have made a difference but can't go back in time. Hopefully someone else can benefit.

Appreciate the feedback Topcat. Sounds like I need to check into more doctors.

I would not count them out if you have researched a particular doctor, met patients, satisfied with the results and know for sure that doctor will perform the surgery.

Westcoaster I have asked for former patient contact info, meanwhile I'm looking around at other doctors.

Friedman due to the secretive nature of this surgery, those speaking freely good or bad are fairly rare and most especially those with the bad results . Generally when we have a bad experience doing business with someone or some company we do not hesitate to share that experience with others that we know as a warning and sometimes it just might be a good story to tell during conversation. It just does not happen with hair transplantation outside of few cases here and there posted to a forum and this is mostly with the poster retaining a great deal of anoyminity. Chances are Bosley will not be sending you referrals of those with lack luster results which I €™m sure you probably already know.
But yes still speak with those patients and ask questions as it all becomes a learning experience. Just don €™t let it become the deciding factor until you investigate further.

Yes a chain outfit might have a really great doctor here or there but that is a huge dice roll. Chain outfits work on huge volume so they are great places for new doctors to get a start, kind of like a training ground. But as with anything else those with exceptional skills will definitely move on. There are plenty of incentives for doctors to get their start this way. No entry cost into the business and plenty of training with that volume and when they decide to leave that €™s not always easy either. Sometimes those same companies sue those doctors that might want to leave and go out on their own. It happened just few years ago with a local doctor here in the Chicago area and Bosley.

Another issue with outfits that employ larger numbers of doctors is that usually even though the profit is much higher for the business itself the overhead is also much higher and that means a continuous flow of patients are needed to keep it all going. So sound ethical advice could be determined by the current business volume as opposed to it being sound ethical advice.

I'm swaying from Bosley as what you say makes a lot of sense, I'll check into some independent doctors and see what they come up with.
