I say a few weeks ago, I had the first half done in September last year. I had 2,100 grafts at this date, and 1,700 a few weeks ago. I think I was bleeding quite a bit after the first operation and it was just decided it was safer for me to have the second half done six months later.
So don't get confused and think the hair I've got now grew in a few weeks!

I swear that I look ten years younger on the right, whereas I am in fact three years older!
So I'm really pleased with my result, don't regret having the operation for one second. I've got another solid six months of growth at the front and a year at the back hopefully. So if you're as bald as I was then I still think it's worth at least considering a HT.

Congrats on your second surgery, those extra 1700 grafts should make a nice difference.

You do look a lot younger with the hair which is a good feeling.

Thanks, I don't know what other people have done, but to have nearly 4,000 grafts in one sitting would be too much, at least the way this surgeon did it. I don't think you can take enough anaesthetic, plus it would have been about 12 hours in surgery non-stop which wouldn't have been much fun.

Thanks, I don't know how much more growth I'll get but I'll post the pics at that time. I could possibly have more done, as I've only had the grafts from my head, I haven't gone down the chest / beard, etc, route yet. But I don't think I will in all honesty, as once you've been stabbed in the head 4,000 times it gets a bit wearing!

It's been nearly 12 months since I had my first hair transplant, so I just wanted to mention a few things to people who may not have had one yet and may be considering one.
You see a lot of threads on here where people have got amazing results. I couldn't be happier for those people. But you have to bear in mind that this may not be possible for you.
If you're a young guy with a strong donor area and still some hair on top of your head then you may get an amazing result. But you have to be prepared for not getting such a result and be realistic about what is possible.
I will tell you my result, what happened to me, and my process.
Firstly, after 12 months there isn't much more growth then after six months, if any. Don't get me wrong, I'm not unhappy with my result. I think it's a miracle of medical science that I can go from completely bald to having a decent head of hair for my age, and that it will never fall out! Quite incredible.
My appearance has definitely improved, anyone can see that, and it does make a significant difference with the opposite sex, much though people will try to convince you that it doesn't!


However, I'm never going to have enough hair to grow my hair, and it hasn't completely covered my head. Pretty close, it is good coverage, but not perfect.
But it was only possible for my surgeon to capture just under 4,000 grafts from my donor area, and I was almost completely bald to begin with. You could have counted the hairs on top of my head quite literally! I actually had less hair than in the picture on the left because that was taken a few years before the operation.
Possibly I could have more done in the future, it might be possible to get grafts from body hair and such like, but I don't know if I'll bother or not. I've already been through two operations, I don't know if I want to go through a third. Maybe a couple of years down the line I'll feel more up for it!
Regarding the process, I've read people on here mention about having hair transplants in Belgium, and Turkey also seems to be popular. That's great, but my experience was not consistent with this idea!


I saw the thread of Fred the Belgian, which is well known by now I would think, and thought that could be a realistic result for me (in reality, he is younger, less bald than I was, had a larger donor area, a smaller area to cover, has better blood flow, etc).
So I contacted the doctor that he used through his agent. Within 24 hours I'd been informed that there was nothing Dr De Reys could do for me with his techniques, my hair loss was simply too advanced. So that was the end of that. There was nothing I could do to see the doctor that I'd planned to see, that went out of the window immediately.
But they said that they're partnered with another doctor, and he might be able to help. So I went with that. I could have done more research, but you can do research all day, you just don't know what result you're going to get no matter how much research that you do.
The clinic and everyone who worked there were great, and I'm happy with the result that I got. But don't assume that everything is going to go smoothly, because it might not.
Furthermore, I was going to have my hair transplant all in one go. But I bled excessively and didn't have the best response to the first part of the operation. So it got done it two lumps. So I'm still waiting for the back to grow, it was done about seven months ago now, I can feel that lots of hairs are still sprouting so hopefully it will all be good in five months.


I just think it's important for people to bear in mind that not everyone can get the same result. If I'd have looked at the 14,000 graft thread and thought I was going to get something like that, I'd be pretty disappointed with my result. They didn't even manage to get one-third that amount of grafts out of my very bald head, so you can't expect remotely similar results.
So just something to bear in mind. Even if you're completely bald and have a small donor area, you can get a good result. But don't think you're going to get some bouffant hairstyle because you will not!BTW I'm sorry this is a big lump of text, it must be a browser issue!
