Been using Toppik

for about 6 years now. am still happy with the results but have lost a fair bit from my crown in past three years so wondering how much longer i will get away with it. The side effects of fin scare me tbh so have been thinking about rogaine/regaine, although also concerned any shed would leave the toppik useless and a big bald spot for a while? last resort is obviously a ht but not sure surgery should be my first move? anyway pics below are again wet, blowdried, and with toppik. any input would be appreciated. (i don't have a step, that is just the lighting :))

Trying the meds first is what I would do in your position. Only a small percentage of people get sides that are serious enough to stop taking them. Finasteride is what I use. Rogaine is a good o;goin for you too. Oral minoxidil has been producing very good results for some.
I used Toppik for years. It was a life saver for me. But, Finasteride and then hair transplants have restored my crown which was similar to yours.

can anyone recommend somewhere in london to get a consultation re meds? i see belgravia do a free consultation, or is it worth finding a dr that charges but gives you more time?

Why not go to their free consult to see what they suggest as a treatment? Don`t feel pressurised to make a decision there and then. Tell them you need time to think it over. You can purchase meds online fairly cheaply.

Finasteride is helping my crown without any sides.
Would you mind elaborating on that little? Would be good to know what kind of difference it'd made and the time period over which you've seen the improvement.

I'm currently waiting to see if my crown grows through meds before considering surgery. Most seen to say it's an 18 month journey.

Thinning areas began to form in my hair. I don't think about hair transplantation for now, but recently I started using fixdeep hair thickener. It covers thinning areas well and does not come out in water. I bought it from Amazon, I used to use dermatch but the prices are very expensive and it is not available in the market. Do any of you use Fixdeep hair fibers?

You can look at my thread I started that documents my hair loss. I will add some updated pictures shortly, then you will see how it has helped my crown.

went to belgravia clinic today in london. they suggested this course for me which is in one bottle mixed together and would be applied twice a day. quite like the idea of not having to take a fin pill

Minoxidil 8% Tfin 0.05% + Caffeine + MPG

You’ll probably be able to find the same or similar solution online if you’re prepared to do some searching. Lots of outlets offer various topicals.

yes will definitely have a shop around. they wanted £320 for 3 month supply

started this for the first time this morning - topical - and have had stomach pains this evening, surely sides wouldn’t manifest that quickly? Assume must be something else unrelated or no?

Was on that exact treatment for 2.5 half years with Belgravia, before my HT. I feel like it did help regrow some hair, never felt like they matured enough. In the second year they upped the minox to the 12% mix, which I'm not sure what it did.

Eventually stopped and realized meds would only take me so far. They are super expensive, in hindsight I've spent a mini HT worth with them. There are certainly much more choice out the now on topicals worth finding alternatives

thank you for your experience. as long as it doesn't make thing worse I'm happy to give it a go. tbh if i didn't lose any more hair id take that as a win as like i said I'm kinda ok with the job the fibres do. just felt i should try something before things get worse.

I’m gonna give it a year with them I think (well I’ve started) and if it works find something cheaper. 4 weeks in now and no shedding yet, but they told me as I wash my hair every day anyway I may have less dead hairs. Hope so!

I’ve use Toppik before too. I found it got a bit claggy when wet, and it stood out because of this. I’ve tried loads, but my fav is Nulox. Loads of options these days though. Avoid wool based fibres though, unless you like throwing money away ;)
