Does SMP cause pitting?

If I were to opt for temporary SMP for the next several years is there any risk of pitting/tissue damage having the needle continuously puncture the skin in the same spot? Reason I ask is many on here say I`m too young at 24 to have a transplant so SMP may be a viable option until I`m considered old enough.

To this date, i have seen no indication that SMP or temporary SMP causes any type of micro scarring, pitting, or tissue damage. It also does not damage existing hair follicles, so any existing hair will continue to grow.

To clarify, pigmentation is not intended to continually puncture the same spot in the skin- this would cause other issues like blotchiness and darkness. Instead deposits will be spread evenly throughout the scalp. SMP deposits these pigments rather shallow in the dermis compared to traditional tattooing and other surgical alternatives.

P.s- i had my SMP treatment at 22....so do not worry about being young!

Putting the issue aside of whether this is a viable and safe long term solution. I think most ht clinics in general will not perform a procedure on someone too young and 22 would be too young in my opinion. Unless of course there are unusual circumstances and I believe the same applies with this tattoo process.

They are just not emotionally equipped and it could very well be devastating. Certainly not worth the risk €¦ €¦ €¦..at least in my opinion.

Maybe I €™m showing my age here but these are just kids €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦..might be better for them to wait a few years. You build up emotional strength going through difficult times €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.sometimes it €™s better to just let the process happen and offer support along the way and maybe other ways of coping.

Hair transplant pitting usually occurs when large grafts (not true follicular units) are used. These mini and/or micro grafts are placed below the skin's surface instead of sitting flush like a FU would which can cause a depression. They also require larger recipient sites which can change the surface of the skin. The result can be bumps and "pits." This should not be an issue if true FUs are used.

SMP is a needle penetrating the skin at a superficial depth. I can't speak for other SMP clinics, but Beauty Medical needles penetrate at .05mm.

SMP is a great option for you as long as you do not go in front of your exiting hairline. It will not cause any pitting or micro-scarring. Temp SMP is only laid into a very shallow layer of your upper dermis (about .05mm). Your hair follicles lay deeper in your subcutaneous layer (about 4mm to 6mm). Micro-scarring or pitting is more commonly seen in old hair transplant methods where larger grafts or "punchs" were used. Just to piggy back on what Matt and everyone else said, the SMP dots are never laid "on-top" of each other. Density and darkness is built by laying the dots next to each other. We build the number of dots you have to build your foundation and style. Even if you were to maintain the SMP over years the beauty of it lays in that the foundation is built over multiple sessions so the fading does not happen all at one time nor neccessarly evenly. We continue to even it out by replicating dots where none exist. Hope this helps

If a small needle is used the skin heals perfectly and you dont get any cobble stone effect like you did with older more aggressive needles during hair transplant, the real question is if temporary SMP is a viable option.

Oh man!! I was one of you looking for solutions and answers to my alarming hair loss and balding. As said by Nicole, 0.05mm is after all nothing. I literally stopped going out with friends or parties, find some reason or the other to stay back at home. I happened to pass through some information about MSP, i was totally new to it and no one was there to guide me. I just hit at this bangkokHairClinic website the other day and saw the scalp micro pigmentation treatment offered by them.

On further investigation and question-answer session with them for a couple of hours, I ended up taking an appointment and getting this treatment done. Yes, I can personally vouch for it today while I prepare my bags for a picnic with my friends.
