Donor area 24 years after multiple FUE and FUT Hair Transplants.

I’ve had quite a few people ask me what my donor looks like after multiple FUE and FUT hair transplants.
My first transplant was an FUT in 1998, the beginning of my journey. Many lows at first, poor work, poor growth, scarring.

2 failed FUT transplants, one failed FUE. Then my repair surgeries began after a lot of extensive research.

After numerous repair surgery, this is how my donor looks shaved down to a near zero guard. I’m happy with my FUT scars. They were terrible before my repairs. You will see the FUE scars too.
If I grow my hair to a number 3, my donor looks good.

I’ll add another picture as my hair grows to show the difference.

Must have been difficult dealing with what you had gone through, with what I imagine was on your own and no community like this available to have support from others. Kudos to you for preserving and coming out the other end

Your donor looks better than I expected after all your transplants. There is Fue scars all over your head but not massive ones like I have seen on some people. You should make a video showing your donor, all your knowledge you have should be shared more. Loads would benefit.

Hi Stephen, the SMP was a great addition and worked very well but i`ve not kept up with the maintenance.

Hi, it will help the other members facing too much scarring of FUT or FUE in the donor area. You are a source of inspiration and other people may follow the SMP to hide or conceal the scars.

I don`t think I`ll do SMP again. It worked great but I feel once my hair is a few cm long everything looks good with no scars on view.

Here’s how my hair is looking now. Soon I’ll dye it and have another cut.
It’s not to clear in the picture but the safer donor zone where most grafts were extracted has turned grey before the surrounding hair.

At that length the fue scars are covered but the strip scar is still there with the slight decrease in density. I think you need a tidy up cut and colouring because the hair dye is making your hair multi coloured. Your crown looks fantastic in this last picture. It is something I will be aiming for when I finally pull the trigger.

Hi Kev. Cheers for the reply. I keep saying I’ll get it cut, then I don’t bother. Dyeing it is definitely going to happen soon. Just for men hair dye is not very good, the colour fades very quickly and as seen with my hair, turns various colours.
I hope your crown is holding up. Keeping the donor strong with the meds will be beneficial if you do decide to have a HT.

This is my hair a bit longer and dyed.
As you can see, my donor looks perfect. If I sent these pictures to a clinic they’d assume my donor was very good.

I’ve parted the hair here to show where my vertical scar is. Beard grafts were placed into it.
They’ve worked very well.
