Good to know thanks, 2 months to go
It will all be worth while trust me. I turned 40 yesterday and I look early 30’s now according to my wife. My confidence nowadays is through the roof. I’m also the singer in a band and will now let people take photos of me on stage lol

It has now been exactly 1 month to the date since the HT with the Hair Dr.

After the honeymoon period of seeing the new hairline and it looking relatively normal, it inevitably started shedding about 2 weeks in.

As you can see from the pics, most of the new hair implanted in the receeding areas has shedded which has made the redness a bit more prominent. I have been using Aloe Vera gel as well as a spray to tame it but it's stubborn!

The back and sides are growing well but you can still see traces of the surgery for now. It is still a bit red but my GF says it isn't that noticeable in real life. Adam at the Hair Dr pointed out that as it was a big extraction (3000 grafts) it may take longer to heal.

As it is now 1 month, I used Minoxidil foam for the first time this morning and I will use it twice a day going forward. I'm still taking Biotin every morning as well as 0.5g Fin 3 times a week.

So to conclude, it is not pretty but I fully expected this! Looking forward to seeing the first signs of regrowth in a few months hopefully.

Thanks :)
Hi Alex
I have my transplant coming up soon and was considering using biotin. I haven't taken it before, do you think it's beneficial and what type do you use- any recommendations?

Cheers

Heyyyy

I am hoping once the hair starts actually growing, the Biotin will just help it be stronger and healthier. Whether it actually does anything I couldn't tell you!

It is quite a well known natural substance for healthy hair so worth a go

I can't paste a link but the one I bought is on Amazon called Solgar Biotin 5000

Ah cool thanks for that - I'll order some - definitely worth a try!

Also got some aloe Vera - I'm pretty sure I will have some redness as I am fair skinned - trying to get prepared!

I didn't like the Aloe gel as it got super flakey when it dried and it stuck in the hair when I tried to wash it.

Instead I bought an Aloe Vera spray, also on Amazon and it's much easier to use!

Your bang in the ugly duckling phase...keep busy, try not to dwell on your hair and don't keep checking it out in the mirror every time you pass (I know this is hard as hell lol) but it soon passes if you don't think too much about it and the growth phase where things get exciting will soon be there dude.

Heyyyy

So it has been 6 weeks since the HT!

I had my first trim as the back and sides were getting way too long compared to the top and it looked ridiculous.

Doner area healing well but as with any big HT on top, it is going to take time to look good.

Still redness and is getting a bit spotty but it doesn't look terrible to be honest.

I have added before and after pictures of the trim.

Looking forward to seeing how it progresses :)

That's looking good - definitely worth a trim to tidy it up!
What number did you go for on the back and sides - looks like it's healed well

Started with a grade 3 and then went down to a 2, definitely feel less self conscious now.

It is just the front that is taking a while to heal. I'm using Aloe Vera gel multiple times a day but the redness is Stubborn!

Redness dosent look too noticeable on the pics I don't think- imagine most people wouldn't notice it?

I've got mine next week - so been using you as a sneak peak of what is to come! I've got my aloe Vera and travel pillow ready!

The redness isn't that noticeable but it's definitely visible. It's made worse as a lot of the hair in the hairline has shedded.

Good luck for your surgery, enjoy week 2-3 where the hair looks great before shedding haha

I was thinking about redness, would something like Sudocrem help? It's normally pretty good for skin things - might get messy trying to rub it in with the hair tho I guess!

Everything looks to have healed nicely. Your donor looks good. The redness is an unfortunate consequence for some after surgery. Aloe does work but sometimes the redness still lingers.
Thanks for the update.

Hey All!

It's been 2 months since the HT now.

All though the top still looks ugly, I am starting to see some progress. Very recently I have noticed lots of hairs starting to grow in the hairline as well as just behind.

I'm not actually sure if these are some of my old native hairs regrowing or if they are new transplanted hairs. Either way, it's exciting!

I have included a close up pic of the hair line to try and show the small black hairs.

The doner area looks great and seems to be fully healed now.

I have been exercising every day for the last month on a Peloton which really makes you sweat. I read that sweating is great for healthy hair growth as it flushes toxins out the pores, worth a try!

In 1 month time, we can start seeing friends again at outdoor bars....I'm hoping that I can see a bit more progress in the next month so I don't look as stupid haha.

Cheers

Won’t be long before it’s back to a length you’re comfortable with Alex, doesn’t look bad at all, definitely wouldn’t let it stop you from going for a pint haha
