Hi everyone,

I had a hair transplant with Dr Lupanzula on September 14th 2020. I was recommended Dr Lupanzula by a guy on YouTube.

I'm sharing my update 10 months after my procedure. Delighted with my results and would do it again in a heartbeat. Happy to answer any questions people may have. Photos limited to 22 but I do have more that cover all months, if necessary.

About me:
  • Age at time of procedure: 29
  • NW 3a, father completely bald, maternal grandfather also completely bald
Medication before procedure:
  • Minoxidil, on and off for about 10 years
  • Topical Finasteride 0.1%, 1ml/day from February 2020 up until procedure
Medication after procedure:
  • Minixodil every now and then
  • Oral Finasteride, 1mg/3x per week

Thanks for sharing your experience along with your excellent photographic progress report. Not only does it demonstrate the prowess of Dr. Lupanzula, but it also shows people what to expect in terms of regrowth milestones, although these obviously vary somewhat from patient to patient. Anyone who wants tips on how to take good pictures, follow this, excellent lighting and angles which will serve the community enormously.

Hi Jammin and welcome to the forum.
Those 2700 grafts have made a great difference to your appearance. Your pictures are great quality and nicely documented. The work looks very refined and your donor extraction sites look small.
I see you switched from Topical Finasteride to Oral Minoxidil. Have you noticed any difference with your hair since switching?
Thanks for sharing your story. I’ll look forward to seeing your 12 month update.
All the best.

Hi @Bigmac, thanks for your comment.

I actually felt that the topical finasteride did not stop my thinning. When I compared month 0 with month 6 on topical finasteride, I felt like my forlock had ever so slightly worsened (of course it may have been even worse without topical finasteride at all). Since switching to oral, I've taken pictures of my crown every month (now on month 10) and it looks to have remained stable or perhaps ever so slightly improved, but it's hard to say. I've definitely noticed fewer hairs falling out in the shower since switching to oral fin.

Cheers

6 months may not have been long enough for the topical to take effect but that’s in the past. I’ve been chatting to quite a few doctors about the oral minoxidil, they seem impressed by it. You also have the added ease of use, just popping a pill.
It sounds as though it’s probably working for you with fewer hairs falling out. It is difficult to notice subtle changes. Maybe around the 24 month mark you can compare and then it’ll be easier to judge.

Looking very nice at 11 months. You probably don’t think about having any issues with your hair now.
