Great video. I will be looking to use topical fin when my supply of tablets run out. It’s still a prescription thing here in the UK so a doctor still has to prescribe it??

Hi Dr Tam

Many thanks for the great video. A couple of follow up questions:

As I understand it Finasteride inhibits the enzyme responsible for regulating the conversion of testosterone into DHT.
Hence by reducing DHT levels in the scalp, the drug decreases DHT's effects on the hair follicles.

So where in the body does the enzyme inhibiting occur ? i.e. for topical Fin, how does this compare to the oral version.
Does the topical Fin get absorbed into the blood stream in the scalp and inhibit the enzyme locally ?

Also, you mention to apply to the areas of concern - so how effective is this then from protecting the donor arrears from future loss?

Is the Topical treatment as effective as the tablet and does it affect greasiness of the hair? I guess if put on at night it could be washed off the next morning...

Topical finasteride has a lower dose compared to oral finasteride, while used on the scalp, it gives a more direct route to your hair follicle compared to oral finasteride, we believe there will be systemic absorption into the blood stream, but it will be a lower dose compared to oral finasteride and consequently the lower chance of side effects.
According to Dr Tam’s patients, it seems to be effective in maintaining their native hairs.
