Tricopigmentation treatment is bio-absorbed by the immune defence system through phagocytosis in a span of 2 years maximum. As a consequence, even the strongest optical effect given by Tricopigmentation might start fading away from the sixth to the eighth month after the treatment, and thus call for other sessions, which are merely annual restoration sessions. Whenever the patient decides to use other treatment techniques for any reasons, the TricoPigmentation made before will not be constraining as all the traces will be gone after two years. He or she will only need to wait the immune defence system to do its duty.

The duration of the treatment is subjective and depends on various external factors related to the patient.

How the body cells can include and destruct external material
The age of the patient
Pigments are injected in the superficial part of the dermis. They tent to be slowly expelled through the natural cell renewal. A young patient has certainly a faster cell renewal process than an adult, so the treatment loses effect before.
Lifestyle
Cleaning products
Sport
People swimming, for instance, expose their skin to whitening and sterilizing agents, such as the chlorine inside pools, considerably accelerating the natural cell renewal.
Exposure to sun's rays
The direct exposure to sun's rays can accelerate the disappearance of the treatment, as it might accelerate the natural phagocytosis process of the body.

IMHO the duration of two years is a good thing because it allows you to be free to change your mind or take a different look.

I can see that many AA patients thinκ about SMP as an alternative to HTs and/or as a complementary technique to them. I believe that SMP is a great technique; however, I have some questions related to it:
1. many of these AA patients use topical solutions for their problems which contains alcohol, PG or other active ingredients (eg minoxidil). Do all these topical solutions accelerates fading of the SMP result? and/or can be used from the patients after SMP?
2. Does SMP affect hair follicles which are nearby the pigments?

If Rogaine was used instead of Minoxidil, would the SMP ink last longer?

Actually fitness_junkie, Rogain (regain)or any other solution like this is Minoxidil... Minoxidil is the active ingredient that all of these solutions include. But the main problem I think is not so much the minoxidil but more the alcohol that all most of these products include. An answer to the above questions will be very important for plenty of potential patients.

Yes, agreed. I think Rogaine has less alcohol or a different type so I'm wondering if Rogaine is the better option for longer lasting ink.

If the foam was used i think it probably would too due to the alcohol content. Good question this...i would love to hear from someone who has had this and used the foam to know its effect.

The SMP does not affect the bulb pilifer, sometimes it can be beneficial because the treatment stimulates the atrophied bulbs.

Topical products may slightly accelerate the disappearance of the pigment.

However do not worry about this, the change is insignificant

First of all I apologize for the late feedback. I will do my best to answer all your questions immediately from now on.
You will need to wait at least 6 months before undergoing Tricopigmentation after a hair transplant because your skin needs to heal first.
