First signs of regrowth after shedding from transplant?

Hi everyone. I know this will be slightly different for everyone, but I'm excitedly lookign forward to seeing my hair start to come in and am just wondering what others had expereinced. At what point did you start to actually see the new hair sprouting?

I'm coming up 7 weeks since my transplant, so I'm hoping to see some baby new hairs reapprearing in maybe another 5 or 6 weeks?

Wondering how much that varies, and other than that just excited to hear from others while patiently waiting :)

I was an early grower.

Checking my messages to the clinic, this is 5 weeks post. The thin hairs are in an area where none existed previously so the very short hairs are all new.

It was 4 months before I had any kind of density to make a real difference to my appearance, however.

Ah that's awesome. I started shedding around the 3 week mark which stopped more or less by around week 5. Not all fell out. Which always leaves that slight worry, what it this is actually all there is. I know it will grow, it's just easy to have that tiny bit of doubt.

4 months will take me nicely to Christmas, so that will be a lovely present.

How long has it been now? And how are things going? Did you find it was different to style? I'm imagining the transplanted hair won't be the same as how it was, so wondering how it will sit when it's longer and I try and brush it. Particularly where the parting sits. I'm excited to find out :)

I’m 8 months today. I’m really pleased - it’s exceeded my expectations, especially considering how advanced my loss was (NW 4-5)

My shed was similarly timed to yours and I had some not fall out too. Don’t worry - what you’ve seen is very normal and you’re probably more fortuitous than most not to lose it all.

My hair texture has changed over the months. My LHS grew slower than my right so I often get a preview of the changes from my right side.

I’ve kept mine pretty short, which helps with styling. At about 6-7 months the RHS started to soften and was much easier to style, especially if I wanted to lay it forward or flatter to the head.

My crown is slowest by quite a distance. Currently takes hair product to get it to sit flat. However, that’s getting better too.

I suspect it’ll take 11-12 months before it’s all feeling more normal.

Unfortunately, it’s everything everyone describes. I’m not the most patient, but it really is just a case of trusting the process and trying to appreciate the changes as they happen, as things gradually improve.

Picture for context (you may see the difference i mentioned on each side, though I suspect we’re all more critical of our own hair!). You can see small hairs sticking up from the crown and how it falls forward easier on one side at the front).

That's fab to hear!! I can't wait to see even more progress. :)

This is really interesting to hear. Both my temple areas have quite course hair and it would be nice if softened a little. (Watch this space!)

Yes, I see what you mean where one side falls foward and is quite flat, and the other is more upright. It's not anything I would notice without being pointed out though.
