FUE or FUT technique for a natural looking hair line.

Which technique is better, FUE or FUT to create a soft, natural looking hair line? Reading up on this some say with FUE you can cherry pick the best grafts while others say the quantity of FUT grafts from a strip provide stronger robust hairs to choose from.

If the head is shaven I can't see how grafts can be cherry picked. Surely all the doctor will see is the top of the hair shaft, similar to a blackhead. The hair or dot could appear to be a thin vellus hair that is in the process of maturing, if this hair is planted in the hair line, once matured it may look out of place.
With Fut I believe the doctor/technician has a better chance of selecting finer hairs for the hair line.

My opinion is there may be more fine hairs to choose from with FUT procedures but you should be able to extract enough with FUE as long as the extractor is looking for fine hairs. Even with the head shaved, if good loupes are used, you can see fine and thick hairs.

Thanks for the answers. I'm assuming then, as long as you have a plentiful donor supply both procedures should be fine. Of course, providing good magnification is used to select the finer grafts.

Janna. Can the technician or doctor tell the difference between a fine hair graft and one that's on its way out?

FUT is a good thing to go for natural hair transplants if you are looking for smooth hairs. As FUE will take sessions for hair transplant.

Interesting question, my opinion is both will be about the same providing the doctor uses good magnification to select the grafts.

I have no idea what you mean! Could you explain in more detail?

I believe that it will not matter in the hands of a skilled and artistic surgeon and technicians. They need to specifically be looking for the soft hairs for the hairline but as Janna pointed out, good magnification will help.

Yes, you can tell even with the hair shave but it is easier to tell when hairs are longer. Definitely need good magnification. There are 8x power magnifications now.

A FUE transplant is more about taking a patient €™s remaining hair and transplanting it to the scalp. whereas FUT hair is transplanted from one part of the scalp to another.

Both have moderate differences, but when it comes to deciding which is better, FUT provides more satisfactory results than FUE. Still, I would suggest a consultation with a hair specialist to clear your doubts and help you make the right choice.

FUE still needs some time to be accepted in the Hair Restoration world. Three ingredients count for a good Hair Transplant result: 1. Good quality hair with a healthy patient. 2. Good experienced HT doctor. 3. Good experienced HT team/ technicians. Change one of these ingredients and a lot will change in a negative way in your final outcome.
